From the hills of Transylvania to the pages of the Danish press.
Earlier this summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming Scandinavian journalists to MATCA, as part of a press trip organised by Relais & Châteaux. Now, a little piece of our world has made its way into Berlingske, where journalist Lise Kloch shares her impressions of MATCA, the people, the food, the craftsmanship and the landscapes that make this corner of Romania so special.

There’s a point in November when autumn is almost gone, but not quite.

The hills around Șimon still hold on to their colour and the forest is quieter. So we made a day around it. We start on the trail, come back to enjoy a warm menu at STUP, then spend the afternoon at Natura SPA. That’s the idea behind WILD TO WELLNESS.

Meniul pornește de la ingredientele acestui moment al anului, de la foc, texturi și arome de sezon, într-o cină care poartă gustul toamnei.
Seara va fi completată de un moment muzical live, alături de Dalma.

Before the countdown, there are six acts to enjoy.
Our New Year’s Eve dinner begins at 7 pm with A Ch*****ne Celebration, Daniel Drumas ’s six-act menu with Ch*****ne and Prosecco woven through the evening.
And when the clock reaches midnight, we go back to what started it all: a glass raised together.

Later in the month comes another return, as the flocks descend from the mountain pastures, marking the close of the pastoral season.

Perhaps that is why September feels less like an ending and more like a gathering in. Of hay, harvest and everything the warmer months have given.

Around MATCA, that old rhythm still lingers in the fields, barns and roads of Șimon.
