Summer 2025 has begun in Robin Hood Camp, Russia in the colors and rhythms of incredible India! We have launched an International Camp Management Internship Training Program. For the first time, Robin Hood Camp shared its experience in running a camp, revealed the insights of management, promotion, and adventure pedagogy. The first participants are Heena Patel and Manthan Thakkar. Heena is an assistant professor & cultural coordinator at Ganpat University (GUNI). She teaches sports biomechanics and biomedical engineering. Manthan is a graduate of the same university. Since 2022, he has been working as a senior counselor at the Robin Hood Camp in Maine, USA. Ganpat University is planning to start up its own camp on campus. Heena and Manthan are to lead it. They spent the entire 2-week session with us from the campers’ arrival day to the closing ceremony, immerse themselves deeply in the working processes, cooperated with all the key camp staff, conducted a lot of diverse activities with campers, introduced us to their amazing culture and traditions, and gave the camp a unique experience and inspiration!
Each day began with a study of the most significant aspects of camp management, from the forming of the camp's philosophy and mission to brand management, strategic planning and system development. The trainees discussed the topic with the coach, received lecture notes and assignments for the day. By the end of the session, they had put together their own textbook, a book of ideas and adventures. Later in the day, they held an activity with one of the camp units: they played traditional board and outdoor games, introduced the campers to yoga and classical Indian dancing, and even cooked national dishes! Finally, the trainees had the opportunity to try out all the activities that the Robin Hood Camp program offers. And not just to try, but to discuss in detail with the instructors the specifics of the organization, conduct, and safety. The highlight of the session was the vibrant and musical day of India's national culture, in which the entire camp participated.
We run the program in English. English is not a native language neither for us nor for Indians, but the language has not become a barrier, because the desire to understand each other and learn are stronger than any obstacles.
We believe this program is a great success! We enjoyed the spirit of international cooperation and true friendship, and the interns returned home, inspired by our experience, with a clear vision of the next steps towards setting up a camp in their native country. The concept of camps is still new for India. We are happy to contribute to the development of the camps industry in this country. And in August, we are waiting for new interns from Brazil and Venezuela. To be continued!
You can find out more about the internship program on our English-language website.
