Fjallnas Slott is an outstanding historical wooden castle dating from 1889, located on the outskirts of Gällivare, on a gentle hill overlooking the city.

The Fjallnas Castle was built in 1890 by a Swedish gentlemen, Mr. Karl Otto Bergman, owner of some iron ore mines in the Region. It is the biggest wooden Castle in the North of Sweden and it is considered a national monument. Its shape, in particular the two side towers, gives the impression of a fairy tale castle, especially in its winter version, from November to April, when a soft layer of snow

covers the surrounding park creating a magical atmosphere. The Castle, after a very careful and high level refurbishment, is now a Tourist Resort with seven luxury apartments and a gourmet restaurant; all this without altering the original structures of the Castle which was honoured by the presence of the King of Sweden in 1894.
