Today it was time for the first test run with the electric motor! 🚤 And yes… the test was a success! 😄

From next season, my guests can also head out onto the Tornio River. Try to catch a beautiful salmon 🎣 or simply enjoy the river and the stunning surroundings from the water.

And boating on this river is just a little bit different: one river, two countries and two time zones. 🇸🇪🇫🇮

The Old Post Office Sweden meets Wilderness Adventures Sweden 🌲🔥☕

Sometimes it’s wonderful to be the guest for a change! During my visit to Monique from Wilderness Adventures Sweden, I got a workshop in kokkaffe – real Swedish coffee, made over an open fire – and of course, we also did some outdoor grilling.

And all of this surrounded by the most fantastic views. This is exactly why I love the Swedish outdoor life so much: fire, coffee, good food, beautiful nature and great company.

And the best part is: I’m taking this experience home with me! From now on, my guests at The Old Post Office Sweden can also enjoy kokkaffe, made over an open fire, as part of their outdoor experience. ☕🔥

Sometimes it's the little things that make a stay truly unforgettable. ❤️

My Finnish guests left a beautiful message in Dutch in my guestbook. I was so surprised that I sent them a thank-you message. Their reply absolutely made my day:

"Thanks again for a nice place to stay and recharge before a long drive back home! I have to admit that I needed 'some' help from a translator to write in Dutch...

The only little negative thing about our stay is that our kids started the 'When are we getting a dog?' discussion immediately after meeting Olle." 🐶 ... and that's actually not negative at all.

I can definitely live with this kind of "negative review." 😉❤️

And maybe the nicest part is that so many guests, as soon as they arrive and see him, ask: "Is that Olle?" As if they already know him. 🥰

These are the little moments that make a B&B so much more than just a place to spend the night.

The proof is right there! ☀️👇

Just look at the dashes on the weather app: from now on, the sun simply does not set at my B&B! The magical time of the midnight sun has officially begun. ✨

That means 24 hours of daylight per day, hours of enjoying a warm, golden glow on the terrace, and midnight walks where time seems to stand still. It is a serene, unique experience that you truly have to feel for yourself. 🌲🇸🇪

Woohoo… Newsletter #7 just dropped ✨❄️

It’s honestly hard to believe that more than half a year has passed since newsletter #6. But after an incredibly busy winter season here in Swedish Lapland, time simply flew by.

The past months were filled with guests from all over the world, snowy adventures, long winter days, backcountry skiing, frozen rivers, northern lights and all the beautiful chaos that comes with life in the Arctic north.

And somewhere in between all of that, there are also new plans, ideas and exciting things slowly taking shape for the future of The Old Post Office.

🇸🇪 Holiday in beautiful Tornedalen Swedish Lapland – closer than you think!

Many people think the far north of Sweden is very far away – but in reality, getting here is easy.

✈️ There are direct flights to Luleå (Sweden) or Rovaniemi (Finland) in winter. From there, it’s just a relaxed drive to Hedenäset, a small village along the Torne River in Tornedalen, right on the border with Finland.

🚗 If you travel north by car: simply follow the E4 north and turn off at Kalix onto road 398 towards Hedenäset.

📍 My small B&B (former post office) is only 750 km from the North Cape – perfect for anyone planning a trip to the far north.

🏡 The former post office now offers an apartment with a queen-size bed and a sofa bed. It accommodates up to 4 adults or a family with 3 children and has views of the garden and the Torne River. A small kitchenette is available. On request, I prepare breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The shower is located in the basement and is for private use, next to the sauna.

📅 I am open all year round – for a one-night stopover, a multi-day stay, or complete packages.

SEK 800 / €80 per night including breakfast for 2 persons
June, July and August: SEK 900 / €90 per night including breakfast for 2 persons
Each additional person: SEK 100 / €10 for breakfast
2-course dinner: SEK 150 / €15 per person

Yesterday was already the last day with my Dutch guests. Because they had a late afternoon flight, we started the day slowly with a relaxed breakfast. Then we got into the car and headed towards Rovaniemi. What they had seen the week before only in the dark now appeared completely different in daylight, with the sun shining — a beautiful new perspective.

In Rovaniemi we of course stopped by Santa Claus Village. They didn’t necessarily need to see Santa himself, but standing on the Arctic Circle — both outside and inside — was definitely on their list 🙂

After a delicious warm lunch, I dropped them off at the airport, and another Winter Wonder Week came to an end.

When I arrived back home later, there was still a lovely surprise waiting for me: a small gift as a thank-you for the beautiful week, and a heartfelt message in my guest book. One of those moments when you pause and think: this is why I do what I do ✨

And Olle? He already misses the guests 😉🐾

Day 7.
Today no forest, but the Tornio River. A wide white expanse of snow and ice ❄️
Sweden under one ski, Finland under the other. Two countries, two time zones 🌍 — without it ever really mattering along the way.

The weather works with us. Sun, clear blue skies, deep snow ☀️
We set our own track, nothing to follow but the terrain ahead. Moving forward, finding a rhythm, covering distance.

Olle is with us 🐾
Constantly in motion, running, stopping, moving on again. He belongs here just as much as the skis and the snow.

We stop for lunch over an open fire 🔥 and then continue.

A day where everything comes together.
