Čakčageassi – the season between summer and autumn 🍂✨

In Sápmi, the year is traditionally divided into eight seasons. Right now, we are entering Čakčageassi, the beautiful late-summer season.

The berries are ripe, the nights are getting darker, the first autumn colours appear – and the northern lights return to the sky.

Summer is slowly saying goodbye, while autumn is already whispering its arrival. Soon we will see the first northern lights of the season. 🌿🫐✨

🐾 Meet the Kennel Crew – Episode #7 🐾

This week, we’re introducing two special girls from the family — and both of them happen to be Martin’s personal dogs.

Meet Schlumpf and Mouse!

💙 Schlumpf

Schlumpf is one of the main leaders in our kennel, and she absolutely loves her job. But when it comes to getting ready for a run, she has one very important rule: she has to be the last dog to be harnessed.

Why? Because the moment Schlumpf is in position, she is ready to GO! If the sled doesn’t leave immediately, she makes sure everyone knows about it — screaming, jumping, and bouncing around until we finally get moving.

Let’s just say Schlumpf has a lot of enthusiasm for her job and absolutely no patience when it comes to waiting for the departure!

Schlumpf is the daughter of Siren, from Aurora Mountain Lodge, and has six siblings, including Floki, Sigrid, Balder, and Seidr who also live in .

She’s also a proud mum herself, with 8 puppies including: Morpheus, Mouse and Neo.

🐭 Mouse

Mouse is a very careful little dog who prefers to take her time and get to know you before showing her true personality.

But once you’ve earned her trust, be ready for kisses! ❤️

Mouse also has a second job at the kennel: professional tunnel digger. She absolutely loves digging and seems convinced that there is always another tunnel waiting to be discovered.

When it’s time to run, her favourite place is right next to her brother Neo. Some things are simply better when you do them together. 🐾.

🐾 Meet the Kennel Crew – Episode #6 🐾

This week, we’re introducing two sisters who may share the same birthday, but definitely have their own personalities.
Meet Muddy and Louisiana!

🍖 Muddy (born July 31st, 2022)
Muddy loves three things: food, cuddles, and making absolutely sure nobody else gets her spot.
She’s a very affectionate dog, but also quite possessive and jealous. Once Muddy has claimed the cuddle spot, consider it officially occupied. No other dog is taking her place — she’s already booked it!
Muddy has quite the family tree here at Aurora Mountain Lodge. She’s sister to Opie, Whiskey, and Louisiana, who also live at the kennel, and half-sister to Balder, Floki, Schlumpf, Seidr, Sigrid, Jesse, and Ronny.
She’s also the proud mum of three of our dogs: Modd, Krut, and Skare, together with Skoda.

💪 Louisiana (born July 31st, 2022)
Her real name is Louisiana, but around here she’s known as Louisi.
Louisi is Muddy’s sister, and while they share the same birthday, she definitely has a personality of her own.
She’s our little pocket rocket — don’t let her size fool you! There’s a whole lot of strength packed into this little lady.
She’s full of energy, determined, and always ready for a good run.
Small body, big personality. That’s Louisi! 🐾

🐾 Meet the Kennel Crew – Episode #5 🐾

Today, we’d like to introduce another duo from the AML kennel.
Meet Skoda and Ada!

🩶 Skoda (born August 9th, 2020)
Skoda lives in his own little world, and honestly... he seems perfectly happy there.
He’s a gentle, submissive dog who’s a little shy when meeting new people, but once he feels comfortable, you’ll quickly fall in love with him. Skoda is also the proud father of three of our dogs: Krut, Modd, and Skare. He also has several half-siblings, including Romeo, who also lives at the lodge.
He shares his kennel with Ada since he’s castrated, and together they’ve decided their kennel should double as an archaeological excavation site. If there’s dirt to dig, Skoda is convinced there’s something important buried underneath.
He’s also carrying a few extra pounds... but that just means there’s more of him to cuddle. ❤️

👩‍🍳 Ada (born May 14th, 2023)
Ada is always excited when someone comes to visit.
She often joins Skoda in his “archaeological projects” and has even managed to escape through one of the holes they dug together. Being much smaller than Skoda, she squeezed through with ease and took herself on a little tour around the lodge before anyone noticed.
Ada has four siblings, including Alfie and Johnny, who also live here at AML.
And when it comes to mealtime, Ada is a true food critic. Even though the menu is almost always the same, she carefully inspects every meal and somehow manages to savour every single bite as if it were a five-star dinner.

🐾 Meet the Kennel Crew – Episode 4 🐾

This week’s duo proves that every dog has their own story... and sometimes, their own unique look.

🎨 Luna (born March 24th, 2016)
Luna is the Van Gogh of our kennel. She lost one of her ears after a disagreement with Kaspi (who lives at our Grand Arctic Resort kennel), but don’t worry—she wears her new look with pride.
She is one of our follow leaders and the newest recruit to join the AML team. Gentle, calm, and incredibly affectionate with people, she’ll happily follow you around like your shadow.
Don’t let her sweet personality fool you though. Around the other dogs, Luna knows exactly how to make herself respected. When she says „no“... everyone listens.
Luna is also the personal dog of our kennel manager, Martin.

🤍 Jompa (born September 5th, 2018)
If you’re standing still for more than a few seconds, chances are you’ll suddenly feel a fluffy head sneaking between your legs. That’s Jompa’s favourite way of asking for cuddles.
Independent and perfectly happy doing his own thing, Jompa is one of the easiest dogs to have around.
He retired from sledding earlier than expected due to hip problems, but that hasn’t slowed him down when it comes to meeting new people. These days, he’s always delighted to join our guests on husky walks, where he can enjoy the adventure at his own pace—and collect as many cuddles as possible along the way.
