CREATE SOME SPACE
Ever heard of the Japanese concept Yutori ゆとり?
There is no single, direct English translation, but the closest words we have are ”Margin” or ”Breathing Room.” It is the practice of intentionally leaving space in your life so you never feel cramped, rushed, or pushed to your absolute limit.

Here are the 3 essential dimensions of Yutori. Which one do you need most right now?

1. Temporal Margin (Jikan no yutori)
This means building extra time into your schedule. If your commute takes 20 minutes, but you leave 40 minutes early—you have yutori. If the train gets delayed? No panic, no stress. Your buffer has you covered.

2. Financial Margin (Keizai-teki na yutori)
Having enough money left over after the bills are paid so you don’t have to sweat unexpected expenses. It isn’t about chasing extreme wealth; it’s simply about buying yourself financial peace of mind.

3. Mental & Emotional Margin (Kokoro no yutori)
A calm, spacious mind. When you possess kokoro no yutori, you have the internal bandwidth and patience to handle life’s unexpected twists or other people’s mistakes without losing your composure.

Yutori isn’t about being lazy or doing nothing. It’s about doing what you do, but leaving enough space to breathe. It’s the ultimate antidote to living life ”edge-to-edge.” Create some time soon to just be at

FIND YOUR LIFE FORCE - YOUR 気
Breath in. Breath out. Then something shifts.
Not just air moving through the lungs, but a current beneath the current. A quiet flow without beginning or end. In ancient Japanese tradition, this is called ki , the hidden life energy said to move through everything.

Like oxygen in the air, unseen yet essential, ki is felt rather than proven. A river under the skin. A stillness that moves.

Ki functions roughly like breathing. One can describe it as a breath within the breath, the true life-giving essence, somewhat like oxygen’s hidden function in the air. When we breathe, it is oxygen we take in and carbon dioxide we release in a constant, life-sustaining cycle. Oxygen hides within the air. Ki is also hidden, within and beyond the air we breathe.

The body relaxes. The mind softens.
And suddenly you are one not only with yourself, but with all living things. Awaken your Ki 気 at

MODERN DAY LUXURY
Sometimes, in modern times, the ultimate luxury is to return to life’s simplest, almost ancient pleasures. Sitting silently and watching summer unfold without you needing to do anything. Feeling the contrast between heat and cold against your skin. Grounding yourself down to that place where everything feels natural and clear.

Welcome to discover it at

THE ART OF THE IN-BETWEEN
In the modern society, we often try to fill every second of silence and every inch of empty space. But in Japan, there is a word for the beauty found in what isn’t there, Ma 間.

Ma is the ”pure space.” It’s the silence between notes that makes the music. It’s the pause at the end of a breath. It’s the intentional emptiness in a room that allows us to see beyond the obvious.

It reminds us that the ”gap” isn’t a void to be filled. It’s a boundary that gives everything else meaning.

How to find your Ma today:
✨Take a 5-second pause before answering a question.

🌿Look at the trees and see the space between the branches.

🙏🏼Sit in silence for ten minutes with no input.

⛩ Book a stay at Yasuragi, a good place to practice experiencing the essence of Ma 間

In a world that demands more, find the power in less.

HONOURING THE ROOTS on Mother’s Day May 31
Mother’s Day is often celebrated with flowers and brunch, but at its core, it is a day of lineage. Whether we are celebrating the woman who gave us life, a maternal figure who shaped our soul, or the collective ”mothers” of our heritage, this day offers a profound opportunity to honor where we came from.

Honoring our origins isn’t just about looking backward; it’s about acknowledging the foundation upon which we stand today. By honoring our history, we gain the clarity and strength to build our own future.

This Mother’s Day, as we look at the women who guided us, let us give them something in return. Welcome to Yasuragi. Bring your mother, or give her a gift card so she can choose for herself when and how to use it.

WABI SABI 侘寂
Embrace the beauty of the imperfect and the fleeting.
Wabi Sabi is a way of seeing the world that finds beauty and harmony in what is simple, imperfect, natural, modest and mysterious.

The Japanese aesthetic of Wabi Sabi describes things of imperfect beauty, of a certain roughness, often small things that might easily be overlooked.

Wabi Sabi teaches us to find grace in what’s authentic and real, celebrating the journey and the passage of time.
What imperfect beauty do you cherish today? Share in the comments below!
