Great to be part of the Journey of hearing accessibility!

It was a tight deadline and an ambitious project, but we did our part delivering outstanding audio and monitoring at Oslo New Theatre on one of the first real tests with Auracast together with the project inventor and leader Fluxwork and SenseAid. Thank you GN Group for the initiative to make further history of this event and your great support so far in this.

Transistor has a unique approach in the market working with hearing access from the listener perspective, driven to improve easiness of use and value for the end user and venue. Hearing access is to a wide extent otherwise a tick-box-exercise where little or no attention is put on the real needs and benefits for the target group.

Two examples were shown and proven at this test in Oslo. Monitors for Auracast were put up at the sound system control point, so that the sound technician easy could verify and adjust the signal on Auracast, and one monitor in the venue making it easy for everyone to see and understand there is a live Auracast signal being broadcasted. We also brought one of the top performing Auracast transmitters to the show with great results.

Transistor has more than 70 years experience within assistive listening being one of the first companies to develop hearing loop amplifiers. Since 10 years we have been providing monitors for hearing loops all over the world, making them easier to understand, operate and connect to. Also many other solutions within hearing loop systems, speech amplifiers and speech-to-text solutions.

Transistor and T-SIGN has been nominated at European ZeroCall24 that strives for solutions for a world with zero barriers. The Zero Project Network is comprised of more than 6,000 experts, innovators, decision makers, entrepreneurs, and policy makers from over 120 countries, collaborating towards a world with zero barriers. T-SIGN is a great example of a technical solutions that solves a real problem out there to make the function of hearing loops easy to understand for everyone which makes the technology more easy to control and operate. This leads to more well functioning hearing loops and better accessibility for hard of hearing people all over the world, says Andreas Jonsson, CEO at Transistor.

Eyolf Berg at the Nordic Catholic Church have used T-SIGN for some months in their church and shares his experience:

As far as I can see, T-SIGN is working exactly as intended, and both priests and deacons in the church are beginning to understand how to interpret it. It has been a good help for us to fine-tune the amplifier for the hearing loop, and we now have a good signal without reverberation. I have also started using T-SIGN in the training of text readers, so that they can see when they are reading out loud enough. After we had calibrated the hearing loop system using T-SIGN, we also fine-tuned the speaker system in accordance with the new microphone settings. It seems that even those who do not use hearing aids are more satisfied with the sound in the church now. Eyolf Berg, IVSS Churchear Norway and The Nordic Catholic Church in Norway.

Den hörselsmarta slingskylten T-SIGN vinner pris för bästa hörseltekniska innovation inom tillgänglighet, i den internationella tävlingen Hearing Technology Innovator Awards. Arrangör
för tävlingen är Hearing Health and Technology Matters (HTTM) - en organisation i Nordamerika som grundats av erfarna personer inom hörselområdet såsom Dr. Hasford-Dunn, Judy Huch, David Kirkwood och Dr. Wayne Staab.

Bakom produkten står företaget Transistor. T-SIGN är ett billigt sätt att få sin hörslinga kontinuerligt kontrollerad. Länge har man fått acceptera osäker funktion på hörslingan då det har varit krångligt för ägaren att kontrollera den. Det är fantastiskt kul att HTTM, liksom vi, ser den stora vinsten med att alla kan se hur väl hörslingan fungerar, säger Andreas Jonsson, VD på Transistor.

Det är ett fint erkännande att T-SIGN vinner, säger Johan Hammarström, produktägare på Transistor. Vi har sett hur denna produkt är med och förbättrar tillgängligheten eftersom hörseltekniken annars är osynlig och svår att begripa. Vi har sett att T-SIGN, kort sagt, leder till mer välfungerande hörslingor. Även hörapparatsanvändare har nytta av T-SIGN. När jag gick på bio med min son, för en tid sedan, hörde jag knappt något av hela föreställningen. Hade T-SIGN funnits installerad hade jag förstått att det fanns en fungerande hörslinga, säger Johan som har en hörselnedsättning och använder hörapparat.

Skyltning
Det är av vikt att skyltning om hörslinga görs för att hörslingor ska vara av värde för allmänheten. Passiv skyltning (tex. en dekal) används för att tala om att hörslinga finns
installerad, men den säger ingenting om status i övrigt på systemet.
Aktiv skyltning (T-SIGN) talar om hur hörslingan fungerar på daglig basis. I internationella standarden beskrivs detta som fast kontrollutrustning för att icke-teknisk personal och
allmänhet enkelt ska kunna verifiera hörslingans funktion.

Tävlingen är avslutad!

Rätt svar var så klart att syftet med World Flight for Hearing var att sprida medvetenhet om hörselnedsättningar! Johan var den första hörselskadade piloten som flög jorden runt i ett litet flygplan, en dröm som han lyckades uppfylla trots sin hörselskada. Detta blev starten för Johan inom hörselbranschen!
