Castanea Hostel welcomes you to stay within its centuries-old walls, right in the middle of the Old Town’s myriad of small cosy shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Castanea is a small personal hostel, located at one of The Old Towns narrow and cobble stoned streets. We have 55 beds, in single rooms, twin rooms, 4- and 6-bedded rooms and one dormitory. This summer we have arrange very special guided free tours for our guests at Castanea!
Two different guided tours with an archaeologist - Mathilda Sjöberg graduate of University of Glasgow.

Are you interested in seeing the rich history of Stockholm through a free walking tour? Learning more about the Vikings of Vallentuna, or the Historical Sights in the Old Town?

My name is Mathilda, and I have provided tours in museums and on archaeological sites throughout my Archaeology degree. I have specialised in Vikings, particularly the Runestones – let me show you the fantastic history of the capital through the eyes of an archaeologist!

Currently I have two tours: Vikings in Vallentuna, and Historical Old Town, both of which are around an hour in length, and free to all, given in both Swedish and English.

Historical Old Town
Tour days: Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays

Vikings in Vallentuna
Tour days: Fridays, and Saturdays
Start Time: 14.00
