2023 is going to be a great year !

Let me put this to perspective. I am referring to general business particularly in the Hospitality Industry especially in the Asia Pacific region if not globally.

Judging from many articles floating around, I know many may not agree with me on this, sighting overly cautious global market sentiments, numerous uncertainties from the volatile Nasdaq n Wallstreet behavior, supply chains, oil prices, Russia/Ukrain catastrophe, etc..

Historically events and businesses bounced back after a period of time when the world faces calamity. And they did bounced back good ! Many current business barometer are already showing loads of spending, live transactions, and travelling started to sold out airline seats and hotel rooms! The word revenge travel was quickly invented. Many businesses caught off guard with lack of manpower. If all these are not great positive indicators, don't know what is. And all these are happening while China still have in place strict travel restrictions. When they really open much sooner than later, it is not a matter of will hotels & airlines doing well but rather how much will it cost/charge?!

Pre-Covid, we have seen substantial impact from Chinese outbound globally. It's not difficult to guess, what kind of "revenge travel" will the Chinese travelers impacting your destination. Quality Tourism vs Quantity is not new anymore but haven't seen any dramatic strategy on this yet thus far.

I always like to keep things simple. Focus on expected general demand and be prepared for operations excellence, creative marketing strategies and a clever distribution and rate positioning strategies. I won't jump into lucrative elites travel market without having a solid sustainable business plan.

So, all the best to all for year 2023 !

After almost one and a half year, situation is still unstable and erratic sometimes.

As businesses are slowly resuming, I discovered various strategies are being deployed by hotels. When I talked to some, I learned they can be complicated sometimes. Revenue Management is NOT rocket science. Keep it simple. As a team start these steps..
Step 1 : Identify your short n mid term business goals
Step 2 : Analyse these goals to ensure they are addressing you company's/ owners KPIs
Step 3 : Conduct SWOT analysis on these goals
Step 4 : Deploy quality resources
Repeat Step 3 & 4 as and when required.

You will find, step 3 is where you find all you answers on "How" to achieve your goals. One of which is creating demand. Will talk a bit more on this soon. stay tuned !

Question : What makes a brand popular ? A great product and service offer alone can't do it. Loads of advertising alone can't do it. Besides paying for advertising can be too costly. Cheapest pricing not necessarily what people are looking for. Perhaps it is a combination of great product and service offering with a unique feature, great value in pricing, right amount of free and paid advertising targeting the right audience could be a good recipe in brand building. So, how do we prioritize them ?
