Q4 renovation season is here.

If your hotel is going keyless or working through a brand conversion, room control is probably on the PIP.

Looking back at Q3, a few things stood out.

The numbers got harder to ignore. SensorFlow's own data: the average hotel wastes $80,000 a year on energy it can't see. 66% of in-room HVAC energy lost to empty rooms. Guests out of the room 11.1 hours a day on average, 54% leaving the AC running when they go.

The booking data changed the conversation. 55% of APAC consumers paying a premium for sustainable stays. 74% of corporate room nights going to Green Stay hotels. 23% higher booking conversion for eco-certified properties. Energy management stopped being an operations cost issue and became a revenue and distribution issue at the same time.

Compliance became ex*****on. Singapore's MEI, Vietnam's Decree 30, Indonesia's energy conservation framework, and tightening brand PIPs all arrived at the same desk at the same time. Properties that planned ahead are running a project. Everyone else is running against a deadline.

And SmartARC changed the room control conversation. Hotels going keyless have a real problem: the key-card slot was the room's off switch. A jammed card, a smart thermostat, or a full rewire don't solve it cleanly. SmartARC does, in about 90 minutes per room, without closing a single room.

Q4 planning is underway. If energy management isn't in that conversation yet, the case for it has never been clearer.

Commercial buildings over 5,000 sqm need a formal energy audit, an improvement plan, and a demonstrated 10% reduction in energy use intensity, all within a defined timeline after BCA notification.

Financial penalties for non-compliance. Phased rollout, so properties are being notified at different times.
