A vertical neighborhood of 267 rooms and 17 suites, Andaz Shanghai ITC’s guest tower captures more pronounced residential nuances, with corridors designed to resemble neighbourhood streets and varied entry doors that enhance the home-like feel.

Inside, maisonette-style guestrooms elevate the comforting “home away from home” experience, featuring sleeping and sunroom areas with cosy décor designed to invite genuine rest. Versatile seating flows effortlessly between inviting lounge areas, dining spaces, and visually striking bathrooms with 3D tiles. Traces of craftsmanship can be found throughout, with heritage textures and local art enhancing the sense of belonging, closeness, and warmth.

“We envision each level of the hotel as a distinct corner of the city, together forming a ‘Vertical Neighbourhood’ inspired by old Shanghai’s charm.” - Mathew Lui, Partner, HBA Hong Kong

Newly opened in the heart of the French concession, amid the iconic elegance of its heritage houses, Andaz Shanghai ITC unfolds a new perspective on the city. The creative inspiration was drawn from a neighbourhood illustration in which the district’s outline closely resembled the hotel site. This sparked the idea of extracting and reassembling the hotel’s floor plans, as though they were distinct components of a residential community laid out flat, leading to the concept of the ‘vertical neighbourhood’, with each level reflecting a different aspect of the old city.

SHIBREWYA at Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya is a bright, vibrant space that reflects the bustling energy of Shibuya, developed as an extension of the neighbourhood itself.

HBA Graphics, together with Social F&B, worked to create and bring the brand to life. Inspired by the unexpected rhythm of Shibuya culture, its youthful and expressive character, the branding playfully integrates principles of modularity, vibrancy, and adaptability across dayparts and formats. Engaging layering and geometric details flow from the logo design through to signage and across the collateral.

Echoing the deep blues above the Pearl River, Nanshan CRCC City Park in Guangzhou embraces water-inspired textures and shades.

Smooth, layered finishes mirror the sea’s shifting depths, while subtle gradients bring calm and dimension to this luxury residential space, capturing the project’s close connection to water, from softly luminous surfaces to finely detailed accents. The result is a sophisticated, modern environment where rich tones feel both immersive and beautifully composed.

“This was an opportunity to bring the emotional intelligence of hotel design into a place of work, where nothing seeks attention, yet everything earns affection over time.” Rahul Shankhwalker, Partner, Studio HBA

The Lodha Group office at One Lodha Place is designed to evoke the calm sophistication of an old-world hotel, with a deep sense of comfort, care, and thoughtful attention to detail. Spaces are open yet gently defined, with leadership areas integrated without feeling enclosed, and meeting rooms encouraging relaxed interaction. A subdued material palette of stone, wood, soft textures, and art sits quietly in the background, allowing the space to shift subtly as you move through it.

A study in honest construction, the KUMIKI collection, our continued collaboration with Giorgetti, celebrates a dialogue between Italian and Japanese craftsmanship, interpreted through HBA’s cosmopolitan sensibility.

Named after the Japanese art of interlocking wood joinery, the Canaletto walnut frame of the KUMIKI armchair and chair becomes both technique and philosophy, embracing a shared respect for precision, materials and the enduring value of the handmade.

By revealing their structure of calibrated proportions and purposeful restraint, the chairs affirm a simple principle: when construction is honest, design becomes lasting.

Envisioned as both destination and passage, the Maharaja Lounge by Air India reveals a sensory tapestry that honours the richness of India’s cultural heritage, allowing the spirit of Indian hospitality to take centrestage.

A celebration of the new Air India travel experience, the design reimagines the traditional lounge through a distinctly Indian lens. Craftsmanship and contemporary elegance are layered into a deeply immersive experience where spatial choreography is exquisitely balanced with intimacy. Bespoke architectural gestures reference the airline’s iconic Vista logo, evoking classic jharokha windows and the geometry of chakra motifs, unfolding into a journey of delightful discovery.

A creative design collaboration between HBA Singapore, HBA Strategy, HBA Graphics, and HBA Art - powered by HBA specialists: SOCIAL F+B for F&B, and Light Directions for lighting.
