Set on Lac Beauvert in Canada’s Jasper National Park, the resort’s lakefront suites, cabins, and standard guestrooms undergo a design renovation led by HBA San Francisco. Inspired by the surrounding landscape, the new design balances wilderness adventure with modern comfort, layering soft neutrals, earthy browns, and rust tones with inky blues reminiscent of Lac Beauvert.

Based in HBA’s global HQ in Singapore, Paula O’Callaghan, Partner, has been a leading creative voice within HBA. Beginning her journey as an intern in HBA San Francisco, then moving through HBA Hong Kong and later HBA Singapore, Paula brings her extensive expertise to a variety of high-profile hotels, spanning award-winning modern, urban luxury properties; heritage estates steeped in traditional styling; and relaxed beach and mountain resorts.

Growing up as a third-culture child between Spain, Japan, the UK, Brazil and the United States, Paula went on to build a fine arts background and an architecturally oriented design education, equipping her with a rare ability to work seamlessly across both the decorative and technical dimensions of a project. A culturally attuned designer, Paula’s beautifully integrated design solutions are always grounded in local nuance and cultural sensibility, shaping quiet statements of contemporary luxury and sophistication.

As Paula reflects: “A design that is functional is convenient, but not necessarily memorable. A design that carries a soul and redefines luxury, especially in hospitality, is remembered and celebrated. This is what HBA has been doing for 60 years, and still is, every single day. I am proud to be a small part of its legacy."

“At BAIC Tower, the forest is reimagined. Nature is shaped through sculptural metal forms and industrial craft - by human hands rather than soil.” - Christin Castillo, Principal, HBA Jakarta and HBA Bali.

Rising as an urban forest in Gading Serpong, Tangerang, Indonesia, BAIC Tower is a nature-inspired mixed-use office building, offering a calm counterbalance to the city’s constant movement.

Giant metal trees anchor the main lobby, translating organic forms into structure and movement. The ripple-metal ceiling is complemented by a tall reception backdrop shaped from waved 3D metal fins, evoking the tranquil rhythm of a waterfall. Moving through the offices, soft layers of green shades, flowing across the carpets and lighting accents, ground the atmosphere with a sense of quiet energy.

A vertical neighborhood of 267 rooms and 17 suites, Andaz Shanghai ITC’s guest tower captures more pronounced residential nuances, with corridors designed to resemble neighbourhood streets and varied entry doors that enhance the home-like feel.

Inside, maisonette-style guestrooms elevate the comforting “home away from home” experience, featuring sleeping and sunroom areas with cosy décor designed to invite genuine rest. Versatile seating flows effortlessly between inviting lounge areas, dining spaces, and visually striking bathrooms with 3D tiles. Traces of craftsmanship can be found throughout, with heritage textures and local art enhancing the sense of belonging, closeness, and warmth.

“We envision each level of the hotel as a distinct corner of the city, together forming a ‘Vertical Neighbourhood’ inspired by old Shanghai’s charm.” - Mathew Lui, Partner, HBA Hong Kong

Newly opened in the heart of the French concession, amid the iconic elegance of its heritage houses, Andaz Shanghai ITC unfolds a new perspective on the city. The creative inspiration was drawn from a neighbourhood illustration in which the district’s outline closely resembled the hotel site. This sparked the idea of extracting and reassembling the hotel’s floor plans, as though they were distinct components of a residential community laid out flat, leading to the concept of the ‘vertical neighbourhood’, with each level reflecting a different aspect of the old city.

SHIBREWYA at Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya is a bright, vibrant space that reflects the bustling energy of Shibuya, developed as an extension of the neighbourhood itself.

HBA Graphics, together with Social F&B, worked to create and bring the brand to life. Inspired by the unexpected rhythm of Shibuya culture, its youthful and expressive character, the branding playfully integrates principles of modularity, vibrancy, and adaptability across dayparts and formats. Engaging layering and geometric details flow from the logo design through to signage and across the collateral.
