“Inspired by the fascinating life of Jim Thompson, we designed each space to pique the audience’s curiosity and leave them wanting to know more. Being entrusted to reimagine a space connected to one of Thailand’s most iconic heritage brands was both an honour and a responsibility.” - Nakhan Kaewkao, Creative Director, HBA Bangkok

Housed within Bangkok’s homonymous Jim Thompson Museum, the restaurant, bar, and banquet hall reinterpret Thai beliefs and traditional materials drawing on the legacy of Jim Thompson, the legendary American businessman who famously revived the Thai silk industry in the 1950s and 1960s.

Each space reveals a curated journey through a different chapter of his adventurous life. From the restaurant’s meaningful connection to Thompson’s private residence - once a gathering place for writers, diplomats, and celebrities, to the O.S.S. Bar, inspired by his enigmatic past as an intelligence officer for the Office of Strategic Services, and to the Moonlight Hall, evoking the quiet elegance of traditional Thai ceremonies.

Within InterContinental Huzhou Taihu South, captivating specialty restaurants are conceived as distinctive hospitality destinations.

Cai Feng Lou draws inspiration from the architectural language and landscape character of Jiangnan water towns, abstracted into a contemporary design. The overarching narrative is a subtle tribute to this traditional heritage: fluid spatial sequences echo the flow of water; bird-inspired elements reference the old Chinese custom of bird-keeping - symbolising prosperity and family togetherness; and a bespoke cluster of lanterns evokes classic Chinese lantern profiles, from which delicate, weeping-willow-like forms drape elegantly over the tables.

Moving to the 30th floor, Taihu Feast unfolds with sweeping views across Lake Taihu, imagined as an immersive journey beneath the lake’s tranquil surface. A rich palette of deep, electric blue envelops the interior, complemented by subtle burnt-gold accents for a more dramatic experience. Oversized glass bubble chandeliers float above the tables, creating an ethereal canopy that captures and refracts the light. Punctuating the space, pearl-like lanterns introduce playful moments of wonder, while luminous backlit onyx walls evoke the glowing mineral formations hidden beneath the water surface.

Holding a dual role as President of The Americas and Partner at HBA San Francisco, Meghann Day has been central to the studio’s early momentum and continuing rise. Over her 20-year leadership tenure, HBA San Francisco has extended its reach into Mexico, while its portfolio continues to draw national and international acclaim.

“This Upper East Side-meets-West London apartment was designed with great care and attention to detail. A strong sense of style and a love of a muted, timeless palette led us to a serene, sophisticated modern pied-à-terre aesthetic. Romantic blues, greys, and soft lavenders flow harmoniously and seamlessly through every room.” - Katie Earl, Creative Director, HBA Residential

Located within one of West London’s most considered addresses, where private residences are integrated with the UK’s first Six Senses hotel, this refined pied-à-terre at The Whiteley London unfolds a serene, contemporary interior thoughtfully designed by HBA Residential.

Effortless luxury is balanced across bold design statements and subtle moments of detail. Restraint allows materiality to take centre stage: the interplay of texture and tone feels considered, allowing the interior to breathe: refined, understated, and quietly indulgent in its simplicity.

“The Olazul House carries a remarkable legacy in its architecture, ornament, and nearly a century of stewardship. We wanted to build upon that enduring spirit to create a layered, residential-style retreat, incorporating botanical warmth, considered detailing, and an air of freshness while honouring the character and craftsmanship of the home.” – Gonzalo Tudanca, Principal & Director, HBA Miami

HBA Miami reimagined the historic 1930s Olazul House at Andaz Miami Beach Resort & Spa as the members-only A — Z Club, blending Floridian ease with Spanish Colonial Revival heritage. Historic elements are thoughtfully preserved throughout, set within a nostalgic palette of sage, coral, and blue. Hand-painted floral motifs on timber beams span the ceiling, while antique brass chandeliers, sculptural sconces, and layered woven textures add depth. Eclectic furnishings and tropical palm wall coverings are complemented by Spanish tile flooring, enriching the space.

“Our aim was to translate Oystra’s fluid architectural language into interiors that feel calm, natural, and deeply connected to the sea. Through sculptural forms, a soft material palette, and carefully considered details, we created a refined residential experience that balances visual impact with comfort.” - Bengi Altug, Design Director, HBA London

A bold statement of design ambition, Oystra’s 128,000 sqm mixed-use seafront development comprises 20-storey waterfront towers set within the spectacular coastline of Al Marjan Island, UAE. Spanning more than 900 residential units, it features a curated ecosystem of lifestyle spaces connected throughout its urban fabric.

Conceived by Zaha Hadid Architects, the hyper-modern vision is inspired by the natural energies of the sea and the sky. Oystra’s refined interiors have been curated by HBA London, complementing Zaha Hadid’s exterior geometries through immersive spaces that create a cohesive dialogue between indoors and outdoors.

Situated along Hong Kong’s Kai Tak waterfront, Cullinan Harbour is a prestigious luxury residential development, for which HBA Hong Kong was entrusted with the design of its clubhouse, lobbies, and residences’ standard provisions.

Building on an ongoing dialogue between the waterfront’s breathtaking views and the garden setting, the clubhouse introduces a gradual transition from urban bustle to a city oasis, embracing a new vision of luxury living rooted in wellbeing and timeless design. Reflecting SOM’s organic architecture, the interior and exterior intertwine into a fluid dialogue, with layered lighting adding depth to the double-height spaces and turquoise marbles echoing the shifting hues of the harbour nearby.
