Continuing our sustainability journey and in support of Plastic Free July, our family members recently visited the Get Plastic Indonesia Learning Center to learn more about innovative approaches to plastic waste management and exchange knowledge with a team doing genuinely impressive work in this field.
One of the highlights was their pyrolysis technology, which transforms low-value plastic waste into fuel oil, diverting it from landfills while generating an alternative energy source. Beyond that, the residual carbon from the process is repurposed into souvenirs, a simple yet effective example of circular economy thinking that creates value from materials that would otherwise be discarded.
Visits like this reinforce our belief that collaboration, innovation, and education are essential to addressing the global plastic waste challenge. They remind us that there is always more to learn and help shape how we approach waste and resource management across our properties.
Reducing our environmental impact is an ongoing journey. Across our operations, we are committed to minimizing single-use plastic by embracing the waste hierarchy: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle prioritizing reduction first, followed by reuse wherever possible, and recycling as a final step. We invite everyone to join us in making more conscious choices.
As we continue to strengthen our sustainability efforts, we are grateful to organizations like Get Plastic Indonesia for inspiring new ideas and showing us what’s possible.
What is one small step your team or business has taken toward reducing plastic waste? We’d love to hear!
