We’ve shared some tips on how you can support biodiversity in the winter 👇

1 - Don’t tidy up too much
Although it can be tempting to sweep up all the leaves this removes shelter for some smaller animals. As the leaves breakdown they also fertilise the soil.

2- Leave plants unpruned
If you prune back trees and bushes you can be removing sources of food for animals.

3- Set up bird feeders
Encourage nature into your garden and give birds a helping hand.

COP29 is now taking place in Azerbaijan but did you hear about COP16? If you didn’t it’s not surprising there is up to eight times more media coverage of the climate crisis relative to biodiversity loss.

Scientists say that biodiversity needs to be taken as seriously as the climate emergency as our fragile ecosystems are beginning to reach a tipping point. This is a crisis as we rely on the natural world for our food, water and clean air.

Biodiversity is vital to the future health of our planet and is one of our places goals as part of our sustainability certification.
