The garden is ready… and already alive.

There’s something truly special about knowing that our first guests in May will step into the garden and pick their own fresh salad.
Maybe even a strawberry 🍓 or some herbs - straight from the soil to their plate.

The vegetables don’t always look the prettiest, but once you wash them and take a bite, the difference says it all.

This is a garden for feeling. For flavor. For connection with nature.

Our guests have free access to the garden - pick whatever is in season and become part of a story where food is real again.

We know it’s often easier to grab a neatly packaged salad from the store, washed and ready to eat.

How much plastic is left behind?
And did it even grow in real soil?

Here, we sow, plant, and w**d by hand.
Sometimes it’s exhausting, and time is short between guest turnovers.
But every time we see an empty garden bed, we know it was worth it. 🤍

Near Holiday House Pr' Matažič, you’ll find a variety of mountain trails, from easy walks for beginners to more challenging routes for experienced hikers.

At the top, you’ll be welcomed by a cozy mountain hut, where you can enjoy homemade products and traditional Slovenian dishes. And of course, the breathtaking views of the valley will make every step worth it.

In our previous post, we talked about mountain biking, this time, we’re focusing on road cycling. 🚴‍♂️🌿

Spring is just around the corner, bringing warmer days and the perfect conditions for long rides on the road.

Our house is located in a small, peaceful village with excellent road connections, ideal for road cycling enthusiasts. From here, you can enjoy smooth rides through the valley, rolling countryside routes, or take on more challenging climbs into the surrounding hills. The scenery combines open landscapes, alpine views, and quiet country roads with very little traffic, perfect for relaxed spins or more demanding training sessions.

The world-known Tour of Slovenia cycling race has even passed right by our accommodation, making these roads part of Slovenia’s proud cycling story and adding a special touch for true cycling fans.

Just 7 km away, in Kamnik, you can hop on a train and safely take your bike with you, making it easy to plan a cycling day trip to the other side of Slovenia and explore even more diverse landscapes.

After your ride, your bike can be safely stored during your stay.

Our house is located in a small, peaceful village, surrounded by beautiful forest trails right on the doorstep. From here, you can enjoy stunning climbs up to Krvavec or Velika Planina, as well as scenic rides through the Bistrica Valley near Kamnik. The routes offer a mix of forest paths, alpine landscapes, and open views, ideal for anyone who loves riding in nature.

Whether you prefer gentle rides through the valley or more demanding climbs into the hills, you’ll find plenty of options right here. And for road cycling enthusiasts, there are also great routes available, offering smooth rides both across the flat countryside and into the surrounding hills.

And of course, your bike can be safely stored during your stay.

Even though the valleys are warm and snow-free, it’s a completely different story up in the mountains, where real winter and great skiing conditions are waiting for you🏔️⛷️.

Just a short drive from Holiday House Pr' Matažič, you can enjoy snowy slopes, fresh mountain air, and beautiful alpine views. Perfect days on the snow are still very much part of the season up here.

After skiing, come back to the house and warm up beside the large traditional farmhouse stove, the true heart of the home and the coziest place to relax on a winter evening🔥.

If you’re in the mood for something slower, step straight outside and explore the peaceful forest trails that run around the house. Quiet nature, scenic paths, and total relaxation are right at your doorstep🌲🍁.
