Hemmingway House is located in the centre of Kobarid, just three houses down from the main square, in a recently renovated house dating from the 20th century with many period features. The house has five self-catering apartments set over three floors which can sleep two to five people respectively. The house has a large garden, two terraces and a large secure barn for storing sporting equipment (p

araglides, kayaks, canoes etc.) Rates start from Euro 20/person per night without breakfast and discounts for longer stays are available in the off season. Upon request, groceries for breakfast can be purchased on your behalf and left in the room.

One of my favourite restaurants, in the area is a short 5 minute drive to the border with Italy. Here you will find home made gnocchi, meat platters, roast lamb, mixed grills. The portions are huge, the prices reasonable, the wines are excellent as are the desserts. If you're at the Beach in Nazida, why not head here for dinner before coming back to Kobarid. I'll let my pictures whet your appetite.

No visit to Kobarid would be complete without a relaxing swim in the nearby Nadiza River and is warmed by hot springs. All along its valley from Robidiche to Robic are hundreds of great spots to enjoy the natural beauty of the river and enjoy its refreshing waters.

GOSTILNA LAVRENČIČ in Borjana is a fantastic restaurant with magnificent views from there large outdoor terrace. It is also open 7 days a week for food. Their mixed grill is outstanding as is there Venison Goulash. Just 10 minutes by car from Kobarid.

Hemingway House has made it into the 2016 edition of the Lonely Planet Slovenia!

"A good value option in the centre of town, honouring Papa Hemingway, owned by Marie, a Canadian. The house has five apartments (each with its own bathroom and kitchen) over three floors - they sleep two to five people and share a lovely garden where breakfast (€5) can be served. Off season and weekly rates too!"
