Looking to cool off?!

One of our guests' favourite things to do here at BikeSki B&B in the summer is visit the abandoned mine in our hometown Mežica in Slovenia.

Inside the mine, visitors can choose from several exciting activities.

For a truly unique twist on exploring the tunnels, there’s underground kayaking through flooded sections of the mine, offering a cool and unusual way to see the historic passages.

Cycling is also available, with regular biking routes along the mine’s old tracks and the extreme "Black Hole Trail" provides pure adrenaline for those seeking a challenge, including narrow paths, ramps, and twists through the underground labyrinth.

Each activity is guided and equipped for safety, so whether you prefer a gentle ride or an adrenaline-filled experience, the mine offers something for everyone.

Combined with the consistently cool temperature inside—around 8–10°C (46–50°F)—these experiences make the abandoned mine in Mežica a perfect summer escape!

What an incredible week and what an incredible honour it was to witness history.

Watching our very own Tadej Pogačar secure his record-equaling fifth Tour de France title was something we'll never forget. As fellow Slovenians, it filled us with so much pride to be there and celebrate this remarkable achievement in person.

Bravo, Tadej! 🇸🇮🚴‍♂️ Your determination, humility, and passion continue to inspire not only Slovenia, but cycling fans around the world.

We have had the pleasure of welcoming guests from around the world — Finland, Canada, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, and now we are excited to welcome our first guests from the USA.

We are currently sharing our passion at our booth at the Tour de France, celebrating the beauty of travel, adventure, and unforgettable experiences.

The Koroška or Carinthia region of Slovenia is full of great hikes, including this one up to the peak of Uršlja gora.

The summit sits at 1,699 m and can be reached on a well-marked, moderate trail, taking around 1.5–2 hours from popular starting points.

The route leads through forest and alpine meadows, with wide panoramic views at the top.

Just below the summit you’ll find one of the best mountain huts serving traditional Slovenian food like jota, stews, sausages, and homemade desserts.

It's a great half-day hike with big views and even better rewards!
