Did you know Mežica is close to several via ferratas?

This is the Olimpline Via Ferrata above Črna na Koroškem in the Koroška (Carinthia) region of northern Slovenia.

It starts just above the town. You walk about 20 minutes from the centre to reach the route entrance and then follow fixed steel cables, ladders, and iron steps up the hillside above Črna.

This via ferrata is about 1.7 km long with roughly 550 m of vertical gain, and it’s one of the more challenging via ferrata routes in Slovenia. The standard line is rated around C difficulty, but there are optional harder sections up to D/E and even F for experienced climbers.

From the exposed sections you get great views over the Mežiška and Topla Valleys, and on a clear day even towards Uršlja gora in the distance.

You’ll need proper via ferrata gear (harness, helmet, via ferrata set) and a good head for heights!

Nestled close to the border between Austria and Slovenia, our home town of Mežica has access to awesome hiking trails. Here's a few of our favourites!

🏔️ Peca (Kordeževa glava, 2 125 m): A classic summit right above Mežica with panoramic views of the Karavanke Alps. The well‑marked trail from town or Črna na Koroškem climbs through forests and rocky ridges up to this iconic peak. This is a strenuous full day adventure with unforgettable vistas.

🏞️ Dom na Peci (1 665 m): A beautiful alpine hut nestled below Peca, perfect for a rewarding half‑day hike or a stop on a longer summit attempt. They also have amazing food so don't miss out!

⛰️ Raduha (2 062 m) & Mala Raduha: Part of the Kamnik‑Savinja range, this peak offers classic alpine terrain and sweeping views over Koroška with routes from lush pastures up to the rocky heights.

🌄 Črna na Koroškem – Pikovo: A gentle, scenic hike through forests and meadows up to the Pikovo hut. This one is ideal for a lighter day out.
