WHAT TO DO: VISITING VOGEL IN THE WINTER
Our guest Evgenii and his family visited the Vogel Ski Centre above Lake Bohinj on Saturday and sent us these beautiful photos.

Taking the cable car up to Vogel is a great experience and the views are stunning. After a steep ascent up to 1534 meters above sea level you are met with amazing views of Lake Bohinj and the surrounding mountains of the Slovenian Alps, including Mt. Triglav. It’s disabled & pushchair friendly. There’s a nice cafe restaurant on top. (photos: Evgenii Danilov)

WHAT TO SEE: VINTGAR GORGE
Our current guest Evgenii visited the Vintgar Gorge with his family last week, on September 13th, and shared these beautiful photos with us.

More about Vintgar Gorge: This one the most beautiful places in Slovenia. It’s really a stunning gorge with jade green water, white rapids, lots of fish clearly visible, and a waterfall to top it off. Prepare to have your camera in hand for most of the time! A boardwalk takes you along the sides of the gorge, crossing the water a number of times. A waterfall at one end of the boardwalk provides a nice backdrop for photos and is accessible by a separate track. The walk is around one and a half hour long but isn’t difficult by any standards. There are plenty of families there with small children who seem to manage the walk fine. And if you go a bit further down the path than most and wind your way through the woods (after the cafe at the end of the boardwalk), you can get down to the water and swim in the plunge pool beneath the waterfall. There is a cafe in the end of the trail and a good restaurant with fresh trouts next to the parking.
