The Hostal Cumbres del Volcan is owned and operated by a retired American and his Salvadoran wife. We have 2 locations in San Salvador: (1) Colonia Escalon 1 block from the Hotel Crowne Plaza, and (2 ) Colonia Flor Blanca 1.5 kilometers west of the Centro Historico. Both locations have a mix of beautiful private rooms and shared dorm rooms popular with International Back-packers. In Escalon the s

hared dorms are $8.00 & $10.00 per person (Bunk Bed or Single Bed). Private rooms are $20.00 for a double and $30.00 for a triple with shared bath, or $40.00 & $45.00 for double or triple air conditioned room with private hot water bath & breakfast included. In Flor Blanca we have shared dorm rooms for $7.00 per person with bunk bed, and large private rooms (many with balconies) from $25.00 or $30 with private bath. cable TV, fully equipped kitchen available for all guests, piano (Flor Blanca) or keyboard (Escalon), guitar, lounge areas, patios, terraces, and garden. We are very sad to report that on May 7 we had a serious fire in our location in Colonia Flor Blanca. Gracias a Dios no one was injured. Due to extensive fire damage, we will be closing for the immediate future, but hope to open again soon better than ever. We have another location in San Salvador farther west in Colonia Escalón. That location was thankfully was not affected and remains open. For those of you with existing reservations we will try to accommodate you in Escalón: 85 Avenida Norte #637, between Calle del Mirador and Novena Calle Poniente, one block below the Hotel Crowne Plaza and the Torre Futura. The Centro Historico is really lively at Christmas time. I remember a few years ago when the Centro was unsafe and nearly empty at night even at Christmas. Now it is one of the centers of La Vida Nocturna for the capital.

Diversión de Halloween para algunos de nuestros invitados a nuestro ubicación en Colonia Flor Blanca. Fueron a Willy's, una discoteca popular a 20 minutos a pie de nuestra ubicación en Flor Blanca. Iba a ir, pero tengo dolor de garganta y no quiero mas enfermarme, así que pasé. Que lastima soy un viejito.

Our many guests from other countries are always surprised at how San Salvador looks. It is mostly a very modern city and much more prosperous than most expect. The mosaic man with outstretched arms is called "El Chulón" or naked man here in common parlance. Behind him is the National Art Museum, or MARTE. The area covered by the video is the Zona Rosa, or Colonia San Benito.
