“It’s got to have something special.”

That was co-owner ’s rule when he and his partner Thibaut we’re looking for a spot to build Casa de la folie. He didn’t know what that ‘special’ was exactly, just that he’d know it when he found it.

And then, they found it 📍✨
The combination of the sea view, ocean breeze, surrounding nature.

Casa de La Folie was built slowly and intentionally over time- close to a decade. Each part of the house tells a story. People who stay there tend to become part of the family and keep coming back. It might have taken longer than a lot of construction projects, but there’s something about knowing everything was done purposefully… just hits different.
We usually only see the highlight reels, the finished products of other people’s lives and projects, it’s easy to forget how much time and sacrifice goes into building something special.

“The house and the location are lovely, the rooms under the roof have no windows and an amazing view- you live within nature basically, looking at the sea and listening to the sounds of waves all the time. It’s just a little walk (few minutes) to the center of El Tunco where you have access to everything- and if you want to withdraw, you can go back to this lovely, quiet, green oasis. Wifi is fine, there is also an open kitchen area. Staff at the house and other guests are extremely nice and calm, it is a lovely place to chill, surf, work and I will definitely come back.”
