The Souk Story

The Souk was first opened in 2004, a small restaurant and bar in a close intimate setting. Opened by the locally famous ‘Eddy’ (Chirat), he wanted to give a place to the people where you can come and your worries are seemingly washed away by the sea and your concerns numbed by the food in your belly.

Previously working in Dubai he was inspired by hearing the word ‘Souk’, Arabic for ‘Market’. It is commonplace in these markets that people from all classes, shapes and sizes attend care-free, there is no divide amongst the people. The meaning carried into what he envisioned for ‘The Souk’, a place for all people.

Now an expanded restaurant and cocktail bar, serving mouth-watering Thai cuisine and Western dishes accompanied by the picturesque setting on the beach, it has become a traveller favourite and go-to local choice. Eddy and his team at The Souk, provide friendly service, boat trips, great food, cooking lessons, drinks & cocktails, and also arranging events for local people and hosting birthday parties for all the people that Eddy has become good friends with.

With all his ingredients sourced fresh, eggs from his chickens and seafood delivered from his fisherman ten feet away, you will struggle to do much better than ‘The Souk’.
