Nai Yang Beach is well known for its beautiful, sometimes moody, but always dramatic sunsets. The perfect backdrop for some cocktails, followed by some tasty bites. All within a few minutes walk of the Apartment.

Well we have had a busy few days here at the apartment.

In addition to our new blinds and curtains, we've treated the apartment to some new breakfast bar stools. These not only look amazing but are a considerable upgrade in terms of comfort. The bar stools were provided by Index Living Mall in Phuket Town (link above). Their service was great - they looked after us when we visited and maintained good communication up to delivery and assembly on site. We're very happy with the product.

The Index Living Mall is worth a visit if you're down in Phuket Town if you're on the look out for good quality furniture and furnishings. Recommended.

Today we had some beautiful new Roman blinds and net curtains fitted in the apartment. These were supplied by Island Curtains - who I've provided a link to above. They did a fantastic job - visiting the apartment to measure up and then fit. Excellent service and a great quality product. We are very pleased and would recommend them to anyone seeking replacement curtains or blinds. Thank you.

There's more to Nai Yang than just the Beach. Sandwiched neatly between the Apartment and Nai Yang Beach is the beautiful Sirinat National Park. It's very easy to blink and miss it, if your sole objective is to get to the sea quickly. However, I'd recommend that you hang a right (on leaving Dewa) and take a walk through the National Park northwards. It is very rewarding. You'll be to able take in the local fishing boats (on the otherside of the creek) and there are some good places to stop for a refreshing drink, and something to eat.

Half an hour walk takes you to the edge of the airport runway and the round trip easily makes up 5000 steps. The more adventurous may wish to consider the trek further up the beach towards Mai Khao - although please make sure you wear suitable clothing, headgear and have plenty of water to hydrate.

When visiting we regularly find ourselves a shady spot to enjoy the Beach during the afternoon. The dependable offshore breeze is a good reason to make the three minute trek in order to cool down. It helps to have a beautiful view.

Ban Nai Yang is just the ticket for wind and kite surfing during the low season. We've had a number of guests who have come especially to enjoy the local surfing conditions.

Phuket is a pretty casual place. Nevertheless you may need to quickly run an iron over something or other. I for one like to have my suit all in order before I step onto the plane home.

To meet those occasional needs the Apartment comes equipped with the necessary equipment. For your more bulky laundry needs we always recommend our Housekeeper, Rung, who does a fine job.

Just three minutes walk, from the apartment, Ban Nai Yang is a quiet beach. Whilst there are some good restaurants - Phen's, the Beach, and Sea Almond are some of our favorites - it's just as easy to watch the sunset with a glass wine bought from Family Mart.

Some travellers will write off visiting Thailand during August, which can be understood as after all it is monsoon season. However, whilst Phuket experiences tropical storms, and one hit last week, these are always interspersed with very warm sunny weather.

This was the view from our table at yesterday's happy hour. A bright sunset with moody cloudscapes. Today was reassuringly warm and sunny, and tomorrow promises more of the same. The moral is don't write August and September - October is another matter (very hot, very humid and wet).

Thai cuisine obviously isn't just curries and stir fries. There is a whole lot more to enjoy. Tom Yum Goong is a good example of that wider spectrum of tasty meals that can be put together very easily. This light and fragrant soup is based around the core flavours of galangal (lemon ginger), lemon grass and lime. You can the meat, seafood (tiger prawns are nice) or veg of your choice. Tomato is another tasty addition. Extra lime and fish sauce to suit your taste. This is a straightforward recipe. The Apartment's growing library includes a number of recipes that guests can try. All of the necessary ingredients are available from the market. Enjoy.

If you don't have access to curry paste, kaffir lime leaves or coconut milk why not try a vegetable stir fry. Get your wok nice and hot, add some spring onions, chopped chillies, ginger, garlic and a heap of your favourite veg and voila in a few minutes you can a very tasty meal. Just make sure add a dash of soya sauce towards the end and you'll have a real treat. Very good with fresh noodles stirred in before you serve. All ingredients available frsh from the market. You wont be sorry. The added bonus is minimal cleaning up. Enjoy.
