How To Prepare For Your Trip To Thailand

Okay so you are going to Thailand for a vacation.

The first question that might just come to mind is What do I need to do to prepared for my trip to Thailand? You must remember that you are going to visit a foreign country and there are precautions to be taken as Thailand is not home and the elements you will be exposed to are much different then back home.
Following are some of the basic items that are are essential.

1. You NEED medical travel insurance

Medical travel insurance is a must have and good travel insurance that will cover you enough so that you don’t become bankrupt. If you end up in a hospital your travel insurance for Thailand must cover the most important areas such as
(A) all the activities you’ll do (even spontaneous things like snorkeling)
(B) all the modes of transport you’ll use – scooters and motorbikes
(C) medical evacuation home if necessary.

Typically, medical traveling insurance for Thailand provides temporary health coverage for you and provides coverage for accidents or illness, saving you from large medical bills if you require a visit to a doctor or hospital. The insurance should also cover drugs and your stay if admitted to a hospital.
Purchase of comprehensive travel medical insurance, including air evacuation back to your home country is also strongly recommended.

Another consideration for insurance planning is the activities you will be doing on your trip. With so many adventure and water sports available, you must ensure that the insurance coverage you are getting covers any injury that occurs in the course of these activities.

It is also very important to get your routine vaccinations depending on the length of your trip and the specific destinations you will be visiting. Likewise, there are some diseases that you need to be aware of when traveling in Thailand. At least a couple months before you travel you will need to consult with your doctor to see what vaccinations or health precautions you will require for possible health issues such as:

Dengue
Chikungunya, and Japanese encephalitis
Tuberculosis: Tuberculosis is present in Thailand and is an increasingly serious health concern
Malaria which is endemic in certain regions in Thailand.
Hepatitis A and B
Typhoid
Tetanus
Something to help with Diarrhea (Dukoral)
