CHATUCHAK, BANGKOK : A restaurant transformed from a big house which serves Thai cuisine. Nice ambience. Food serving is small. Advanced reservation recommended though walk-in is accepted if table is not fully occupied. Parking lot available in the same compound. This 4 dishes plus 1 glass of pandan juice and 1 small bottle of water cost more than THB1600. If ice is added, there is additional charge.

THONBURI, BANGKOK : Santa Cruz Church (Portuguese for Holy Cross Church) was built in 1770 during the reign of King Taksin (1868 – 1782). It is located on the west bank of Chao Phraya River. Descendants of the early Portuguese Catholics built the first Santa Cruz Church in 1770. King Taksin granted the Portuguese a plot of land to build a church during his royal visit to this village on 14 September 1769. A wooden church was completed on 25 May 1770. 1770. It was then the main Catholic church in Bangkok, and served as the seat of the Apostolic Vicariate of Siam until 1821. Over the next 65 years, the wooden church fell into a state of disrepair. In 1835, Cardinal Pallegoix built a second church to replace the wooden one. Apparently this church had a rather Chinese design, so the villagers named the church “Kudi Jeen” or Chinese church. In 1916 the present version (Renaissance Revival style) of Santa Cruz Church was built during the reign of King Rama VI (1910 – 1925). You will also find a crucifix in one corner and a statue of Mary within the same courtyard.

KOH LANTA, KRABI : Koh Lanta is a district in Krabi Province and a popular destination for families, couples, and backpackers who enjoy relaxing, snorkeling, diving, and exploring nearby islands. One of the resort that is located on this island is AVANI+ Koh Lanta which is about 77 kilometres from Krabi International Airport. To get there, it took us about 1.5 hours drive to Hua Hin pier. From the pier, we had to board the car ferry to cross to the island, which is another 10 mins ferry ride. Once across the water it’s a 25 mins drive to the resort from Khlong Mak pier. This resort is located on a cliff facing Andaman sea. Enjoy the laid back atmosphere while on vacation on this peaceful and quiet resort.

KOH LANTA YAI, KRABI : Tung Yee Peng is a tiny Muslim community located on the east coast of Koh Lanta Yai in Krabi. It was originally known as “Toh Yee Peng”, named after the settlement’s original founder, before it eventually became Tung Yee Peng. Living off the land and ocean, locals here are predominantly fishermen and farmers. Many of the island’s Muslim population formed Tung Yee Peng ecotourism community – with the aim of educating and inspiring visitors to learn about this unique way of life that is deeply connected to the mangrove forest running along both sides of the canal down into the open water. The village offers activities like kayaking through the mangroves, guided nature walks to study the ecosystem, and opportunities to observe wildlife such as monkeys, birds, and crabs. One of the activities that my friends and I experienced is the guided boat tour through the mangrove forest. This is my 3rd time and I highly recommend anyone who visit Koh Lanta to experience this activity. The pristine mangrove is so peaceful and serene. During the excursion, you will be served with local delicacies and coffee/tea for breakfast. To make a reservation, you may contact 092-257-6499 or 065-939-9015. We met the local coordinator, Khun Narathorn Hongthong who briefed us the history of the community before we began our boat ride.

BANG KHO LAEM, BANGKOK : Located on the 2nd floor of Cove Hill, this restaurant serves Japanese and European food (a unique combination). It was an accidental discovery as my friends and I were walking around to look for a place to dine and saw this restaurant. We decided to give it a try and it was a good choice. The food was really good and tasty. Even the seating area is cozy. We will return to the restaurant as we liked the taste of the food and also the friendly owner and staff. There is parking lot at the building. The operating hours is from 11am to 9pm and open daily.

BANG KRUAI, NONTHABURI : We keep coming back to this shop to enjoy delicious meal and cakes! It’s obvious with the number of dishes we ordered! A good place to meet friends and spend the entire afternoon eating and chatting. Eat to your heart’s content!

KHAO KHO, PETCHABUN : Experience the English-style Caravan stay located on the hill with breathtaking views of the pine forest garden. There are other types of accommodation in this resort but I opted to stay in the modern caravan furnished with branded bathroom/toilet facilities. The resort is not too far from the popular Wat Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew; it’s less than 2km away. Parking lot is available at the resort. The staff will be able to pick you up from the parking lot with the use of the golf buggy.

PATHUMWAN, BANGKOK : Sanguan Sri has been in business since 1970 and the restaurant has remained classic, hidden among high rise buildings and located in the prime area near several embassies. There is no car park and you will need to park your car at the hotels or shopping malls nearby the restaurant. The restaurant offers “Specials of the Day” menu as well as daily featured dish to choose from. The food does taste good. The service is also fast as we do not need to wait long for the food to arrive after placing our order. Sanguan Sri is located near the corner of Phloen Chit Road (Sukhumvit) and Thanon Witthayu (Wireless Road). Take the Exit 5 of Phloen Chit BTS station, then turn left on Thanon Witthayu (Wireless Road). Walk for about 50 meters until you see the restaurant along the main road, next to Plaza Athenee hotel. All this cost THB634, including a glass of coconut juice and 3 glasses of Chinese tea that can be refilled.

JALAN GASING, PETALING JAYA : Church of St. Francis Xavier built in 1961 is administered by the Jesuits, the only such parish in Malaysia. On 3 December 2011, the church underwent major renovations, with the installation of a reredos and several large stained glass panels, depicting the Stations of the Cross, the life of St. Francis Xavier, Christ the Good Shepherd, and Mary, Queen of Heaven, surrounded by a myriad of Jesuit saints and blesseds.

SATHORN, BANGKOK : This is of a kind restaurant in the city with outdoor and indoor seatings. There is a stream of water flowing through a small pond with lots of fish in it. A very cosy place to meet friends and have a meal with variety of choices to select. A good place to take photos with such set-up. There is live music as well to entertain you while you dine. Price wise is a bit pricey. The restaurant is open daily and there is parking space available (limited if crowded).

KHET TALING CHAN, BANGKOK : Wanted to try something new and came across this restaurant which serves something different than the usual dishes. Most of their food has different kind of sauce/gravy. Even for the pork chop, it was kind of different as it contained some wet gravy with mashed potatoes (which taste nice). The price was pricey. It was crowded so it is recommended to book ahead if you do not wish to wait. There is outdoor seatings too. Parking space is available but it is shared with other restaurants located in the same vicinity.

KHLONG SAN, BANGKOK : If you are a tea drinker, then this is the right place for you. This shop serves all sorts of tea, including brewed bottle tea! Besides tea, they also serve food. This is a small shop that has a few seating area to dine in. It is open everyday except Mondays from 9am to 7pm. Parking is available next to the shop.
