Wat Bowon Sathan Sutthawat, widely known as Wat Phra Kaew Wang Na is offering a rare public opening of its ordination hall from August 12 to September 20, 2026.

PHRA NAKHON, BANGKOK : Wat Bowon Sathan Sutthawat, widely known as Wat Phra Kaew Wang Na (the Front Palace's Emerald Buddha temple), is open to the public for visits to the ubosot from 12 August until 20 September 2026, daily from 09:00 to 16:00, free of charge. Built during the reigns of Rama III and Rama IV as the private temple for the Front Palace (Wang Na), it mirrors Grand Palace's Wat Phra Kaew by having no resident monks. The nearly two-century-old floor-to-ceiling murals painted by early Rattanakosin masters, depicting the legend of the Phra Phuttha Sihing image, past Buddhas, and traditional Hindu-Buddhist cosmology. The ubosot was built as a four-sided structure housing the principal Buddha image in the ‘granting forgiveness’ posture.

PATHUM WAN, BANGKOK : Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) railway station was established in 1910 based on a Neo-Renaissance design by Italian architect Mario Tamagno and opened on 25 June 1916. It is located in Bangkok’s China Town (Yaowarat) 350 metres from the Chao Phraya river and served as the main railway hub for over a century. Currently, Hua Lamphong runs limited local and excursion train routes. Long distance trains moved to the new central station at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal since 2023.

CHONG NONSI, BANGKOK : Jaan means “plate” in Thai where dishes are served using vintage plates. This restaurant offers authentic southern Thai cuisine. The taste of the food is pretty good and so is the service from the staff. Jaan has been awarded with the Michelin Bib Gourmand 2026 in Bangkok. The restaurant opens from 11:00am to 9:00pm daily. Parking space is available. A good place to dine with family and friends as the atmosphere is rather quiet.

THONGLOR, BANGKOK : DreamLoft is a restaurant located on the 3rd floor of The Strand, Thonglor. The restaurant offers variety of menu selections and provides a good atmosphere to dine with friends or even with a group of friends or colleagues. It’s a place where you can also relax and enjoy a game of billiards while having some drinks. A really good place to chill! Valet parking is available.

CHATUCHAK, BANGKOK : A restaurant transformed from a big house which serves Thai cuisine. Nice ambience. Food serving is small. Advanced reservation recommended though walk-in is accepted if table is not fully occupied. Parking lot available in the same compound. This 4 dishes plus 1 glass of pandan juice and 1 small bottle of water cost more than THB1600. If ice is added, there is additional charge.

THONBURI, BANGKOK : Santa Cruz Church (Portuguese for Holy Cross Church) was built in 1770 during the reign of King Taksin (1868 – 1782). It is located on the west bank of Chao Phraya River. Descendants of the early Portuguese Catholics built the first Santa Cruz Church in 1770. King Taksin granted the Portuguese a plot of land to build a church during his royal visit to this village on 14 September 1769. A wooden church was completed on 25 May 1770. 1770. It was then the main Catholic church in Bangkok, and served as the seat of the Apostolic Vicariate of Siam until 1821. Over the next 65 years, the wooden church fell into a state of disrepair. In 1835, Cardinal Pallegoix built a second church to replace the wooden one. Apparently this church had a rather Chinese design, so the villagers named the church “Kudi Jeen” or Chinese church. In 1916 the present version (Renaissance Revival style) of Santa Cruz Church was built during the reign of King Rama VI (1910 – 1925). You will also find a crucifix in one corner and a statue of Mary within the same courtyard.
