The Royal Barge Procession is one of Thailandâs most remarkable living traditions, where the discipline of an ancient royal naval formation meets the beauty of Thai craftsmanship and ceremonial heritage.
Originally rooted in royal naval formations, its precise rowing and structured movement reflected military discipline. Over time, this tradition evolved into a magnificent royal ceremony, bringing together ornate barges, traditional boat chants and thousands of oarsmen moving in perfect rhythm.
In 2026, 52 ceremonial barges and 2,200 Royal Thai Navy personnel will take part in this extraordinary procession along the Chao Phraya River.
