Offering food to 4 monks in front of the house at is our every morning routine.
This morning one of our guests walked to the bus to go to the airport of to Laos. I asked her to joined me and showed her how it's done. At the very end, I explained to her, now you pour water into this little bowl and compose your mind to extend this merit you just did to some one in your family or friends that passed away...
She told me with tears in her eyes that today is the exact100 days that her dad passed away.
Usually in Thai Buddhist culture we would have ceremony offering food to monks as a way of passing that merit on to our love ones that passed away for 100days. So she and I was very delighted. We, Buddhists don't believe in coincident. Things are nicely time and organized as per the Law of Karma, so we meet, greet, receive and deliver, good or bad, up to one's desired and destiny.
Hope her dad like Thai food.
