FIELD RECORDING & AMBIENT MUSIC WORKSHOP (Free/ Donation welcome)

Join Sea Ansley of ANIMISM and Goa Music Lab for an introduction to creating ambient music from the sounds around us.

We’ll explore artists such as KMRU and Jon Hopkins, practise recording sounds around Pa Rang, and take a field-recording walk through the surrounding streets of Chiang Mai. Back at the cafe, Sea will demonstrate how recordings can be transformed using stretching, reversing, sampling and effects, before arranging them into the beginnings of a composition.

Bring a phone or any portable recording device with a microphone. Android users may wish to install a free audio-recording app beforehand. Earphones / headphones would be handy to review samples. Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes, as it will likely be hot and sunny. If it rains, we’ll record inside and around Pa Rang.

Participants are invited to develop their recordings into compositions and return for an informal listening session approximately one month later.

ทุกชั้นของเสียงถูกสร้างขึ้นจากบรรยากาศในช่วงเวลานั้น ผ่านการวนลูป การฟัง และการตอบสนองต่อช่วงเวลาปัจจุบัน ทำให้ทุกการแสดงเป็นเอกลักษณ์และเกิดขึ้นเพียงครั้งเดียว
