Chiang Mai Province will hold the Yi Peng Festival from November 24-25, 2026, in various locations. Key attractions not to be missed by tourists include:
Three Kings Monument: This area hosts the opening ceremony and cultural activities.
Tha Phae Road: This area offers a view of the beautiful lantern parade and local performances.
Ping River, Nawarat Bridge: This is the main Loi Krathong festival spot in Chiang Mai, featuring riverside light displays.
Wat Phra Singh, Wat Chedi Luang, and Wat Lok Moli: These are popular places for making merit, praying, and performing candlelight processions.
Specific Lantern Release Areas: To prevent fires caused by the release of lanterns, Chiang Mai Province has restricted the release of lanterns from the city center, such as in San Sai, Mae On, and Doi Saket districts. Therefore, private organizations have organized various lantern release events.
