The Mae Wang Sustainable SchoolStay is a sustainable development project taking place at the Lion Rattanakosin School in Huay Hoi Village in Mae Win, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Situated on top of a mountain 10 km from the edge of Chiang Mai (50 km from the Chiang Mai International Airport), the Mae Wang Sustainable School Stay is a social enterprise managed by the Lion Rattanakosin School. tanakosin School (grades K through 6) includes a working organic vegetable farm with composting, chicken and duck coops, handmade coffee roasting, wild honey bees and herbal oils and other handicrafts. Guests who stay at the Mae Wang Sustainable SchoolStay have the unique opportunity of observing firsthand an ongoing village sustainable development project and are welcome to volunteer and/or teach at the Lion Rattanakosin School and interact with the local villagers [from the Karen minority hilltribe] in addition to taking advantage of the numerous adventure tourism activities in the area: Elephant tours, hiking and trekking, jungle survival classes, cooking classes, adobe house building, bamboo river rafting, cycling/motorbike tours, waterfall tours and swimming and organic gardening. Proceeds from Mae Wang Sustainable School Stay directly benefit the village students of Lions Rattanakosin School, as they will be used to purchase school supplies, support local teacher salaries, and upgrade infrastructures. Subsequently, the project will also prove to be as beneficial to the local Karen villagers through the educational development of their own youths. "แม่วางสกูลสเตย์" คือที่พักภายในโรงเรียนสำหรับนักท่องเที่ยวและอาสาสมัครแห่งแรกในประเทศไทย ตั้งอยู่ ณ โรงเรียนสโมสรไลออนส์รัตนโกสินทร์ บ้านห้วยหอย ต. แม่วิน อ.แม่วาง จ.เชียงใหม่
โครงการ "แม่วางสกูลสเตย์" เป็นโครงการเพื่อการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน บริหารจัดการโดยโรงเรียนสโมสรไลออนส์รัตนโกสินทร์ ตั้งอยู่บนยอดเขา เหนือขึ้นไป 10 กิโลเมตรจากเขตจังหวัดเชียงใหม่รอบนอก (50 กิโลเมตรจากสนามบินนานาชาติเชียงใหม่) โรงเรียนแห่งนี้มีนักเรียนตั้งแต่ระดับชั้นอนุบาล จนถึงประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 ภายในโรงเรียนจัดกิจกรรมพัฒนาพื้นที่ตามแนวคิดเศรษฐกิจพอเพียงมากมาย เช่น ทำแปลงเกษตรอินทรีย์ซึ่งใช้ปุ๋ยหมัก มีเล้าเป็ด เล้าไก่ เมล็ดกาแฟคั่วแบบพื้นบ้าน น้ำผึ้งป่า น้ำมันสมุนไพร และงานฝีมือประเภทต่าง ๆ
ผู้ที่เข้าพักที่ "แม่วางสกูลสเตย์" จะมีโอกาสได้สัมผัสโครงการพัฒนาท้องถิ่นโดยตรง และสามารถอาสาเป็นผู้ช่วยสอนหรือช่วยทำงานในโครงการที่สนใจได้ เพลิดเพลินประสบการณ์เยี่ยมชมหมู่บ้านชนกลุ่มน้อยปกากะญอ (กะเหรี่ยง) และร่วมสนทนากับชาวบ้าน รวมทั้งได้สนุกสนานกับกิจกรรมท่องเที่ยวผจญภัยต่าง ๆ ในพื้นที่โดยรอบ อาทิ ชมช้าง ขี่ช้าง เดินป่า ขึ้นเขา คลาสเรียนรู้การเอาตัวรอดในป่า เรียนทำอาหาร สร้างบ้านดิน ล่องแก่งแพไม้ไผ่ เที่ยวตามเส้นทางจักรยานและจักรยานยนต์ เที่ยวน้ำตก ว่ายน้ำ และทำการเกษตรอินทรีย์
รายได้จาก "แม่วางสกูลสเตย์" จะเป็นประโยชน์โดยตรงต่อเด็กนักเรียนของโรงเรียนสโมสรไลออนส์รัตนโกสินทร์ โดยจะนำไปใช้ซื้ออุปกรณ์การเรียน สมทบเป็นค่าจ้างครูเพิ่มเติม และปรับปรุงโครงสร้างพื้นฐานอื่นๆ ในเขตนี้ รวมทั้งจะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อเนื่องสู่สังคม ชนกลุ่มน้อยชาวปกากะญอ ซึ่งเป็นชาวเขาในท้องถิ่น ผ่านการพัฒนาการศึกษาของเด็กๆ ต่อไป
