เชิญชมนิทรรศการครั้งแรกของเรา!! จัดแสดงชิ้นงานศิลปะโดยการทำงานร่วมกันระหว่างป้านิ เจ้าของแบรนด์ผ้าปักบ้านสันกองกับผู้ต้องขังในเรือนจำกลางเชียงราย โดยความตั้งใจของเราที่ต้องการนำเสนอถึงช่วงเวลาของการเข้าสู่-อยู่กับสมาธิ และการประคับประคองขณะจิต เพื่อทลายซึ่งกรงขังและพันธนาการ

ในโมงยามที่อิสรภาพถูกพันธนาการ
เข็มนาฬิกาถูกโซ่ล่ามตรวน
การจองจำเรียงแถวเข้ามาตะเบ๊ะฝ่ามือ
โมงยามนั้น ‘ศิลปิน’ ซึ่งซ่อนตัวอยู่ในนามของ ‘นักฆ่าเวลา’ ปรากฏเผย ‘ โฉมหน้า’ ของพวกเขา
โฉมหน้า ซึ่งเป็นอิสระจากกรงขัง ลวดหนาม และกำแพงที่ปรากฏข้อความ เขตอันตราย ไฟฟ้าแรงสูง
โฉมหน้า ซึ่งเป็นอิสระจากสถานที่และเวลา สู่แห่งหน ณ ขณะจินตนาการโลดแล่นโผบิน
ประคองปีกกว้าง ขยับร่างไหวไปกับจังหวะกะพริบใน ‘วินาทีเคลื่อนเท่าทันสติ’
สยายเส้นสายลงบนผืนผ้า หรืออาจหมายถึงผืนกรง ซึ่งจะตรึงขัง ‘ตัวตน’ ใบหน้าหนึ่งของเขาเอาไว้เหนือกาลเวลา
นิทรรศการจัดแสดงงานปักใบหน้าตนเองของเหล่าผู้ต้องขังแห่งเรือนจำกลางเชียงราย ซึ่งทำงานร่วมกับป้านิ – นิธี สุธรรมรักษ์ เจ้าของแบรนด์ผ้าปักบ้านสันกอง เธอสอนพวกเขา “ผู้ต้องขังชาย แดน 3” ซึ่งไม่เคยทำงานปักมาก่อน ด้วยการให้ทุกคนลองหลับตา ใช้ใจ และจินตนาการถึงความรู้สึกภายใน เพื่อเปิดมุมมองทัศนคติในการอยู่กับฝีเข็ม เส้นด้าย และลายปัก ลึกลงไปยังเส้นสายของใบหน้าที่ถูกปักเหล่านั้น คือการรั้งนำเราเข้าสู่ห้วงภวังค์ของการทำงานฝีมือ สู่ห้วงขณะแห่งการเพ่งพิจ นิ่งสงบ พร้อมไปกับการฝึกเยียวยาจิตใจในวันที่ชีวิตต้องอยู่ร่วมกับโมงยามไร้อิสรภาพ และภายใต้ผืนผ้าสีดำที่เคยว่างเปล่าเหล่านั้น ป้านิได้นำพาความหมายที่เปรียบเสมือนตัวแทนของห้วงสติของเหล่าผู้ต้องขังให้ยังคงอยู่
การทำงานศิลปะในสภาวะของการถูกกักขังจองจำ มีสื่อกลางคือฝีเข็มและเส้นด้ายช่วยปลดแอ็กโซ่ตรวนพันธนาการ สู่อิสรภาพแห่งจินตนาการ เป็นจินตนาการพิเศษที่อาจเกิดขึ้นได้ในเฉพาะ ‘ช่วงเวลา’ และ ‘สถานที่’ แห่งนี้เท่านั้น (Site Specific Art) เพราะเมื่อพวกเขาก้าวพ้นกำแพงสูงชันของเรือนจำ นั่นอาจเป็นช่วงเวลาสั้นๆ ของการเอ่ยลาและไม่หวนคืนสู่การทำงานปักอีกเลย
เข็มปักและเส้นด้ายคงไม่สำคัญไปกว่าการได้ยลโฉมหน้าของอิสรภาพที่แท้จริง
ศิลปะจึงอาจคือแง่งามของการทำงานฝีมือ คือใบหน้าห้วงขณะหนึ่งของใครสักคน คือการถูกกักขังและการได้รับอิสระ หรือคือเครื่องมือฆ่าเวลาที่ช่วยประคับประคองทุกขณะจิตให้ผ่านไปในแต่ละวินาที โดยไม่แตกสลาย

DANN 3 : Look at my face, my place, my time and my imprisonment.
This art exhibition presents the moments of entering, residing in mindfulness, and the cultivation of the mind to disintegrate soul confinement.
At the moment when freedom is restrained.
The clock hands are entangled with chains.
All Imprisonments line up in rows; stand at salute.
In that moment, 'artists' concealed under the guise of 'time killer' reveal the 'faces' of themselves.
The face, liberated from confinement, thorns, and walls with messages like dangerous, high-voltage electric fences appear.
The face, liberated from space and time, into the realm of the mind, soaring freely in an imaginative sky, embracing broad wings, moving synchronously with the rhythm of 'instant consciousness.’
Threads descend upon fabric, or perhaps the cage, which may confine the 'identity,' holding one of its faces eternally.
This exhibition presents the self-portraits of inmates from the Chiang Rai Central Prison, collaborating with Auntie Ni or Nithee Suthammarak, the owner of the handmade embroidery brand - San Kong. She taught them the art of embroidery, particularly the "Inmate Male District 3" who have never embroidered before, by letting everyone close their eyes, use their hearts, and imagine the feelings inside. She also broadened their perspectives on being with needles, threads, and embroidery patterns, delving deep into the threads of those faces that have been embroidered. This is a journey guiding them into the realm of craftsmanship, into the moment of contemplation, tranquility, along with the healing of the soul under the constraints of freedom. Within the black fabric that once seemed empty, Auntie Ni has led the existing symbolic of those inmates’ minds.
The creation of art in the confinement situation, using needles and threads as a medium to unlock the twisted chains of imagination, brought them into the freedom of creativity. It is a unique form of imagination that may unfold exclusively in this particular 'time' and 'place' (Site-Specific Art). Once they step beyond the high walls of the prison, it might mark a moment of saying goodbye - a time when they choose not to return to the art of embroidery again.
Needles and threads might be less important than true freedom.
Art, therefore, embodies the beauty of craftsmanship, the contemplative face of an individual, the experience of confinement and liberation. Or, it could be a time-killing tool that helps to cultivate every moment of the mind, allowing it to pass through each second without breaking up.
