Approximately 200 years ago, some sea gypsies set foot on the beautiful beach of what would become Hua Hin. They noticed that the shallow waters were full of seafood and they settled on stilt houses right on the sea. These pioneers houses used to have very high stilts above the roof of their wooden houses, in order to hang their fishing nets and long wooden platforms to make dry squids (‘pamuk heng’ in Thai).

In the 90’s those houses were converted in small guesthouses and restaurants to accomodate increasing amount of tourists visiting the small fishermen’ village of Hua Hin. Those houses and the small neighbourhood around them is the only historical part left of Hua Hin, and the descendants of Hua Hin’s pioneers are regularly fighting to preserve this heritage against greedy contruction conglomerates. In 2013, we took over and renovated Sukkasem Homestay, to make this traditional Thai house more suitable to international travellers, while conserving its authenticity and original charm. Early morning, you will enjoy the beautiful sunrise from our sun deck and after a hot day at the beach, you can catch the refreshing sea breeze from our beautiful lounge terrace located in the second floor. Within walking distance, you will find all major attractions in Hua Hin: the night market, the railway station, Hua Hin beach, bars and restaurants. All our rooms have been renovated in Thai style, to make your stay comfortable and affordable. Wake up with the sound of waves and make your stay in Hua Hin unforgettable !
