What are you looking for while traveling? If you are looking to see and experience the real Thailand, while meeting lots of new friends, and staying in a place that is comfy, cozy, stylish, and feels like home, then Sweet Life is totally your place! We are thrilled to host you in our new place that has just opened its doors. We have a very clear concept in our community guesthouse: Meet new friend
s and experience local life together. We offer our guests beautifully designed community areas with a kitchen, living room and an outdoor lounge area. We provide all the opportunities for our guests to meet and interact with other guests and enjoy fun activities together such as privately organized boat trips, Cooking with Mon classes where you learn to cook Thai food, movie nights and any other activities that we can organize together. The guesthouse has 7 rooms in total; 2 fan rooms, 2 aircon rooms with jungle view, 2 aircon rooms with a balcony and seaview and a 4-bed aircon dorm. The rooms are spacious, light, with a natural feel. Bathrooms and toilets are shared and are modern and tastefully designed. As we have a number of room types, we cater to any budget. Sweet Life is located in a little fisherman village called Lanta Old Town on the east coast of our beautiful island Koh Lanta. It is one of the last real authentic villages still found on the island. Most tourist accommodation is located on the West coast of the island, close to the beaches. But these days many people are looking for a more unique experience while traveling. Our neighborhood will offer you the most magnificent views (probably the best of the island), a taste of local life, where you can see fishermen go out to the sea, the best seafood restaurants, cute little handicraft shops and good proper coffee places. The neighborhood has the sea on one side, and mountains, rubber trees and jungle on the other. In our little village you will have the chance to experience real local village life, but with comfort and convenience, having all those facilities that make traveling fun and convenient just around the corner. The guesthouse is run and owned by us, Mon and Maayan, and our little daughter Mili. Mon is Thai and Maayan is half Dutch, half Israeli. Our main concern is that you, as our guest, will have the most amazing time on our island. In the morning we will open the coffee shop and will serve you breakfast and coffee, but the main goal is to get to know our guests and be around so we can attend to your every need. We will provide you with anything you need to know about the surrounding and the island, organize different services (like transportation, trips, massages) you might be interested in and offer you any other assistance you may need. Hospitality is our passion and you will feel part of the little family that we have created! Things you need to know about our place to make sure you make the right decision to come and stay with us:
- Our island is quite large and if you want to fully enjoy all that the island has to offer, you will need some mode of transportation. As for now, public transportation around the island does not exist, and private transport is rather expensive. We recommend to rent a motorbike. We can help you rent one and teach you how to ride it.
- We are located in Koh Lanta Old Town, in the residential area south of the Old Town pier.
- We are located on the non-touristy East coast. Most tourists visit the resorts and accommodations on the touristy West-coast. We think the East coast is the best place to hang around, of you want to experience life in a real local Thai village. Old Town offers all the tourist amenities and facilities that the touristy West coast offers, but it still feels unspoilt. People are friendly and honest. You will feel part of a community, both in the guesthouse with the other guests, as well as In the Old Town.
- Our guesthouse is located is a fisherman village in which most houses are built on stilts on the water. The coast is subject to strong tidal movements, with the tides coming in twice a day. Our little guesthouse is on the street side, therefore not on the water. Three rooms have beautiful ocean view though and at night you might hear the sound of the waves and the tide coming in.
- The famous beaches of Koh Lanta are located on the West coast, which is 10-25 km away, depending on which beach you would like to get to.
- Nevertheless, on just walking distance from us, there is a little beautiful beach. It is not the best beach for swimming as the water can be quite muddy and murky and there are some rocks, but when the tide is high, you could definitely go for a refreshing shower.
- From our pier you have access to many beautiful untouched islands. We have kayaks for rent and organize unique private boat trips off-the-beaten-tourist-track.
- People who choose to stay on our side are often looking for a unique experience while traveling.
- Old Town is not really a party place. After 10 pm there is not much night life going on. You could still enjoy party life on the West coast once in a while, but it should definitely not be the goal of a person who stays with us.
- Best way to live life in Old Town, is to go to sleep early and wake up early for a beautiful sunrise.
- Come and stay with us if you like the concept of sharing a home, meeting like-minded new friends and experiencing life in a local Thai village.
- If all the above appeal to you, please come and stay with us, no doubt you are going to love it!
