What I Gained from My Internship ?
"My first feeling was excitement because it’s quite far from home. I thought it would definitely be challenging, and I would need to adjust in many ways—especially communicating in standard Thai with a southern accent, which is spoken quite fast (haha!). I also had the chance to try many new foods I had never tasted before—and honestly, every meal was delicious.
In terms of work, Marasca Samui may be a boutique hotel, but it definitely doesn’t feel small (haha!). Being a 5-star hotel made me feel a bit pressured at first, wondering if I could perform well enough. I was placed in the Housekeeping (HK) team, which works behind the scenes but is truly one of the most important forces in the hotel.
As time passed, I gradually became more familiar with everything. All the seniors are incredibly kind and supportive. They teach me step by step and always encourage me to try. If I make mistakes, they guide me on how to improve—and it’s my responsibility to learn, remember, and do better each time.
I’ve been fortunate to work with great supervisors and colleagues across the hotel. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and always greets each other with a smile. I’ve gained so much valuable experience here, especially since I’ve never interned in a place with so many international guests before. I’ve learned a lot in so many aspects.
I would rate this experience 10/10. Of course, there are tiring days, but I truly enjoy what I do because I have a passion for service. It’s such an honor to have been an intern here ✨
Lastly, I would like to sincerely thank the GM, OPM, P’Oat, P’New, P’Ja, all the managers, and everyone at Marasca for welcoming us as part of the family. I will definitely carry these experiences and share them with juniors who may be interested in joining in the future 🙇🏻♀️💖"
