Our story began back in 1985 when a Grandfather first brought his son and 5 year-old grand daughter to a gorgeous little known island at the time called Koh Samui to see a man who wanted to sell a little piece of 5 rai (8,000 sqm) land.
At that time, Koh Samui was a very quiet breezy peaceful island filled with coconut plantations and dirt paths as roads. There were virtually no tourists, not a single shopping stall, not a single 7-11 convenient store, or even many people for that matter. In fact, Chaweng Road was still just a quiet dusty single lane red dirt road. On that piece of land were a few extremely simple huts made of coconut wood for the very few tourists that did manage to find their way to the island.
The little family immediately fell in love with the land and the island and the seller had himself a deal within days.
Over the years, the Grandfather, Grandmother, Daughter, Son, and two grand daughters dedicatedly worked hard while still enjoying their time on the beautiful island taking one day at a time to slowly evolve and maintain the resort we now call King’s Garden Resort. This was done lovingly with small number of staff some who have started and still remain with King’s Garden since Day 1 of the resort and some who came to work at King’s Garden Resort as their first job as a single adult and still now proudly and happily work here but now with family and children of their own.
Over 30 years later, guests will see the same small family walking around the grounds paying careful attention to accommodation renovations & maintenance, the carefully cultivated tropical gardens, and sometimes even personally greeting guests upon check-in.
As Koh Samui has now become a reknown popular tropical oasis for international travelers with its own international airport and abundant amount of hotels and shops; King’s Garden Resort’s goal is not to overbuild or overshadow what the beautiful island has to offer.
Our accommodations are not mass, multi-story, concrete hotel buildings but still one-story simple bungalows with balconies, however now more stable with modern facilities and comforts. There is still no swimming pool (even though there is ample space for it) as the Resort is blessed with the most beautiful stretch of sand on Chaweng Beach with sea figs and coconut tree canopy and the warm clear sea for all guests to enjoy.
King’s Garden Resort strives to provide simple yet comfortable and quality accommodations, lush natural tropical settings, convenient guest amenities, and local friendly Thai service to all our beloved guests. We work hard at the little things to try to ensure that King’s Garden can truly be considered your home away from home during your tropical holiday in Thailand.
