This weekend marks the beginning of Songkran, the world-renowned annual new year festival celebrated throughout Thailand! But do you know "Songkran"'s cultural heritage and history?

Songkran originates from the Sanskrit word saṃkrānti, meaning "astrological passage" or "movement," marking the sun’s transition from Pisces into Aries to start the new solar year. Deeply rooted in Hindu and Buddhist traditions, it originated in India, with its timing celebrating the end of the dry season in Southeast Asia.

Originally a time for spiritual renewal, it involved washing away bad luck, showing respect to elders, and visiting temples for merit-making. Over time, the traditional act of gently pouring water as a blessing evolved into the widespread, playful, and energetic water battles commonly seen today.

Catch of the Day - Every Monday, savour the day's freshest seafood cooked to your preference - grilled or steamed, and paired with once signature sauce of your choice. In this image, our Chef concocted a Mixed of medley seafood in Mediterranean style with carrot and focaccia bread.

Each portion features 180-230 grams of premium seafood, depending on the daily catch, and is accompanied by a complimentary classic tiramisu. All the while being surrounded by ocean views.
