After seeing Heidi and Avadh’s wedding featured by Destination I Do this week, I’ve been thinking about what makes Rayavadee such an extraordinary place for a destination wedding.
There’s the setting, of course. Dramatic limestone cliffs, tropical gardens and the Andaman Sea create a backdrop that feels almost impossible to replicate anywhere else.
But what I loved most about photographing a wedding here was how much variety there is within such an intimate setting.
The ceremony can feel completely immersed in the landscape, while portraits only require a short wander to find beautiful pockets of light, lush greenery, the beach and those incredible limestone formations.
The light is something worth considering too. Thailand can be bright and warm during the day, so the timing of your ceremony and portraits makes a real difference, both to how everything photographs and how comfortable the experience feels for you and your guests.
And then there’s the feeling of having everyone together in one place.
That’s one of my favourite things about destination weddings. Your guests haven’t simply arrived for an afternoon. They’ve travelled to be there with you, often turning the celebration into several days of dinners, swims, conversations and time together before the wedding day even begins.
Rayavadee lends itself beautifully to that kind of celebration.
For couples dreaming of a destination wedding in Thailand that feels intimate, considered and surrounded by an extraordinary landscape, this is a very special place to experience.
