:: TRAVEL TO ::
From Bangkok/ Malaysia fly or travel via train to HAT YAI City in Satun (Songkhla) Province -
Take a "MINI VAN" from Hat Yai to Pak Barra Pier (100-150BHT p/p one-way) -
Take a Speedboat from Pak Bara Pier to Koh Bulon Island..
Speedboats typically leave once a day at 1pm and cost +-450BHT p/p ONE-WAY (add a once-off 20BHT National Parks Entry Fee, and an additional 50BHT for the transit from Speedboat to the island via a long-tail boat, required) - CHECK LOW SEASON AS THE SPEEDBOAT SERVICE MIGHT NOT BE AVAILABLE - If you ask around the docks you might get a lift on a longtail for 300—350B
:: RETURN ::
NO pre-paid return ticket required, you can purchase that at anytime on your return in CASH/ BHT on the Speedboat - the Long-tail leaves the island to the Speedboat at 9am - 9:30am (check with the locals from what beach, as it depends on the tide and weather) - You can also ask around for a lift on a longtail.
If you miss the boat.. stay another night, it's worth it! Don't make travel plans to close to one another.. give yourself ample "plan b" time.. you are in the middle of the ocean, and the weather can change so that no boats can launch.. bring something to protect you from the rain, and/ or the wind chill on a boat.
:: SERVICES ::
Mango bar offers internet (at night when the generators are switched on)There is an emergency medical care and a pharmacy on the island. but expensive, so do bring your own sunscreen, AND MOSQUITO repellent. There is a foreign exchange shop, but not very reliable ATM/ Bank facilities.. So, bring some extra cash to survive for an extra 2-3 nights.
