Was, no am still surprised & flabbergasted to hear that Brian Russo, a former customer, guest, friend of Backstage on Phuket, who had his partnership celebration at Backstage Purple Meeting Point in Patong, for which I had it transformed into a pretty cool kind of wedding ‘chapel’! All venues in Paradise Complex wanted to organise, but he chose Backstage because I told him I was only prelared to organise it, if they were serious and would not expect a show or theatrics but a sincere commitment ceremony!
He told me that it was that demand of mine that made him feel comfortable to have it organised at Backstage, bext to my experience in organising wedding ceremonies and/or officiate them.... and from those preparation times up till earlier this year we had a couple of times a year contact, mostly at Phuket Gay Homestay of Ulf & Boy after closing my Backstage or by messenger when we were both not in Thailand anymore, he was only 2 years my senior! Rest in Peace you wonderful caring man, sad for your last leg in life but grateful for what you were able to give us all!

Just a warning for those who haven’t really paid attention to it all trusting all would be okay in the end.... seems not...

In case you missed the story, 150,000 foreign tourists could face arrest and jail if they don’t sort out their visa status before the amnesty expires on Saturday. If you want to stay, you must get a letter from your embassy or doctor that says you cannot fly home

Many foreigners were hoping for another extension to the visa amnesty. Others, who want to work here, were also hoping that Immigration would allow them to change to a Non B without leaving Thailand. It looks like neither of those things will happen before the amnesty expires.

We don’t know for sure yet, but there is speculation that people who are able to buy the 30 day stay based on the embassy letter, can then change this to a Non B without having to leave the country. I will let you know if anyone has actually been able to do this.

If you haven’t sorted out your status yet, then you need to do something quickly or leave the country before Saturday. There are reports of Immigration offices being very crowded. A friend of mine had an appointment at 1:30pm but didn’t get his stamp until 6pm! Good luck!

A view and drive ones impossible to make in the same time frame and definitly at the same time (look at tree shadows on beach road, which suggest its around noon)... the queit is absolutly eerie.....
And sadly, behind all these closed or empty business there’s a lot of (in)direct suffering, drama caused by Lady Corona aka covid-19!
And let’s not forget, there have no massive social and economic aid packages been put in place to combat the dramatic consequences of the impossed strong lockdown measures, which even made travel between provinces impossible, and as a consequence for people to go back to their (family)homes ..... Having notices all this, and knowing how the dead are being counted, one can applaud and be baffled about the official registered covid-19 death but makes me strongly curious to what we call here “average surpelus death” (my translation ergo use of words) compared with, for example, last year! It will definitly show a unpleasant rise in for instance suicides, for a Thai Buddhist the ultimate action out of despair of the here and now (heard that number was already higher then the official covid-19 Thai dead).... and this is/was only the FIRST wave.....
Anyway my heart goes out to all my Thai family and friends caught up in their Corona Consequences, as well as my farang friends who also try to help out their fellow men wirh deeds of helping by fundraising and/or preparing food packages and its distribution on Phuket as well as elseshere!
Hope you all enjoy a good blessed Sunday though and that you will feel lucky with your curcumstances and be assured that, regardles what we have list these last years, Kik and I feel very lucky and rich regardless and fortunate that we are where we are! 🇳🇱🇹🇭👩🏻‍🦯🤟👍🤟☘️☘️☘️🙏🙏🙏

An update we wouldn’t want our Backstage Inn group to miss out on, .... being out of business doesn’t mean we can’t pass on relevant information or give advice when asked 😇🙏
Patong, Kathu, Phuket... for many this year a place hard to get to with no idea what will or can be found ones we do!
BUT let’s hope we’ll at least have many joyfull occasions to attend when we finally are able to! 🇹🇭👍☘️😎😇🙏🙏🙏🇹🇭
