The Andaman Sea has long shaped the lives of communities along Southern Thailand’s coast, from fishing and journeys between islands to the exchange of people and cultures across the water.

Today, the long-tail boat remains part of that living relationship with the sea. Still used by local fishermen and coastal communities, it carries forward generations of knowledge about navigating these waters and making a life from them.

This MGallery Heritage Days, we look beyond the postcard view to the stories, people and traditions that continue to shape Phuket’s shores.
