Lodge Pattaya West Winds 1803

Masonic Lodge situated in Pattaya, Thailand Welcome to Lodge Pattaya West Winds which was consecrated in March 1993.

We are number 1803 on the Roll of the Grand Lodge of Scotland, and members of The District Grand Lodge of the Middle East. Our Lodge meets on the second Saturday of October through to June (except April) on the mezzanine floor of the Holiday Inn, beach road Pattaya. Each regular meeting is followed by a dinner which we call ‘Harmony’ and we allow Non Mason’s to attend this dinner if they have been

vouched for by a member of our Lodge. Tyling of our Lodge is normally 6 pm although this can vary. The installation of the new Right Worshipful Master and his office bearers takes place at our May meeting and is normally held at the ‘Workshop’ of the Executive tower of the Holiday Inn, beach road Pattaya. In addition to our regular meetings we also hold social events such as a beach barbeque/summer party and a Christmas evening/Ladies night. Our summer party is open to Non Masons and is our main charity fundraiser for the year. For the year 2017 we have decided to forego the Christmas/Ladies Night as in February 2018 we will celebrate our 25 year anniversary. Our widows Christmas vouchers, all sent out and received except 1 that will be collected soon from one of the other ladies as she is busy.
It's the best part of my year, sorting and delivering for all 7 of our widows. The feel good factor is immense when they receive them.

This is a small group of photos from the widows sons branding ceremony at mapachan lake at the hop house bar of which is highly recommended for real ales etc.
Brethren from the U.S, Canada and the Philippines, came to sort it out for us.
2 members from Pattaya West winds 1803, SC. Myself and the RWM, Brother Paul Angus. There was over 50,000 baht handed over to Take care kids to help with an extra dormitory, and the president of the widows sons Thailand, brother James purvey handed it over to GIO.

Thank you to the 100+ who attended our celebration of Robert Burns Birthday. A very successful night with a great addition to our fund for local charities. One of the highlights of the evening was the look on the Thai ladies face’s trying to understand the Scots language.

This morning, I attended a press conference at Chaengwattana regarding the 90 Days Online Notification. Although this has been around for a number of years now, it has been fraught with technical problems. But recently, they have revamped the system to make it more reliable and efficient so you can use a computer, tablet, or smartphone to notify your address every 90 days.

The purpose of the press conference today was to encourage more foreigners to use the online system in the future for 90-day reporting, in order to cut down on the number of people visiting immigration offices. They are also pushing other online services such as booking appointments online which is now nationwide, and a way to submit documents for extension of stay, which is still being tested.

There have been a number of issues with 90-day online reporting which I did ask about. However, I think most people want to know first when the whole process will be abolished. I'm afraid there is not going to be a change in the law any time soon. We will just have to live with it for the foreseeable future.

I asked them about the problem when some people went to stay in a hotel and were then unable to submit the 90-day notification online due to a change of address. This is a known issue that will be sorted soon by marking the hotel stay as temporary.

I asked them about the issue for people who went abroad briefly and then some immigration offices wanted them to file a TM30 on return and others didn’t. I was told that it should be standardised nationwide soon so you don’t need to keep filing a TM30.

Several people told me that when they returned from abroad, they were informed that they cannot do the notification online and had to go to the office in person. Immigration informed me that they can indeed do the online notification 90 days after their return. The only time an in-person 90-day notification is required is for the very first time.

I know it is not a perfect system but it is getting better compared to what we had before. I will post separately on how to do 90-day online notification of address.
