บางครั้ง
ช่วงเวลาที่งดงามที่สุดของการทำ 78'sHometel
กลับไม่ใช่ช่วงเวลาที่ยิ่งใหญ่หรือพิเศษอะไรเลย
แต่เป็นเพียงช่วงเวลาธรรมดาเล็ก ๆ
ถ้าเป็นไปได้ ผมมักจะพยายามอยู่ที่บ้าน
ในวันที่ Guest เดินทางมาถึง
เพื่อคอยต้อนรับพวกเขาด้วยตัวเอง
เสียงกระดิ่งหน้าบ้านดังขึ้น
ประตูเปิดออก
รอยยิ้มแรกของนักเดินทางที่เพิ่งมาถึง
คือภาพที่ผมยังรู้สึกตื่นเต้นทุกครั้งที่ได้เห็น และในวันที่พวกเขาต้องออกเดินทางต่อ ผมก็มักจะออกมาส่ง กล่าวคำอำลาเล็ก ๆ ก่อนที่รถจะค่อย ๆ หายไปตามถนน
สำหรับผม การทำที่พักไม่ได้หมายถึงแค่
การมีห้องพักที่สะดวก สะอาด และปลอดภัย
แต่หมายถึงการได้เป็น Host
เป็นคนที่คอยแนะนำสถานที่
ช่วยเหลือเมื่อมีคำถามและดูแลนักเดินทางในช่วงเวลาสั้น ๆ
ที่เส้นทางชีวิตของพวกเขา
ได้มาบรรจบกับบ้านเล็ก ๆ หลังนี้
ไม่นานมานี้เราได้มีโอกาสต้อนรับ Return Guestที่กลับมาพักกับเราอีกครั้ง
และครั้งนี้ พวกเขายังพาเพื่อน ๆ มาร่วมเดินทางด้วย
สิ่งที่ทำให้ผมรู้สึกประทับใจที่สุด
ไม่ใช่แค่การที่พวกเขากลับมา
แต่คือการได้เห็น คนที่ไม่เคยรู้จักกันมาก่อน เริ่มนั่งคุยกัน เล่าเรื่องการเดินทางและหัวเราะไปพร้อมกัน
ช่วงเวลาสั้น ๆแบบนั้นกลับทำให้บ้านเล็ก ๆ ของเรา กลายเป็น community เล็ก ๆ ของนักเดินทาง
และทุกครั้งที่ผมเห็นภาพแบบนี้
ผมก็มักจะนึกถึงเหตุผลเดิม
ที่ทำให้เราเริ่มต้น 78'sHometel
บ้านหลังเล็ก ๆ ที่ธรรมดา เรียบง่าย
แต่เต็มไปด้วยความสบายใจ
บ้านที่เปิดประตูต้อนรับโลกกว้าง
และเฝ้ารอผู้คน ที่บังเอิญค้นพบเรา
แล้วเลือกเดินทางมาหาเราอีกครั้ง

Sometimes,
the most beautiful moments of running 78'sHometel
are not the big or special ones.
They are simply the small, ordinary moments.
Whenever possible, I try to be at the house
on the day our guests arrive,
so I can welcome them in person.
The sound of the doorbell,
the door slowly opening,
and the first smile of a traveler
who has just arrived after a long journey.
Even after welcoming many guests,
it still feels special every single time.
And when the day comes for them to leave,
I often step outside to say goodbye,
watching their car slowly disappear down the road
as they continue their journey.
For me, running a place to stay
is not only about providing rooms
that are comfortable, clean, and safe.
It is also about being a host.
Someone who can recommend places,
help when questions arise,
and take care of travelers
during the short moment in life
when their path happens to cross
with this little house.
Not long ago,
we had the chance to welcome returning guests
who chose to stay with us again.
This time,
they even brought their friends along.
What touched me the most
was not only that they came back,
but seeing people
who had never met before
start talking, sharing stories,
and laughing together.
In moments like that,
our little house quietly becomes
a small community of travelers.
And every time I see a moment like this,
I am reminded why we started 78'sHometel.
A small house.
Simple and humble.
But filled with warmth and comfort.
A home that keeps its door open to the world —
waiting for those who somehow find us,
and choose to travel all the way here.
