📢 Entry Measures into Thailand by Air travel✈️

📌 **Registration on Thailand Pass starts on 29 April 2022 (00.01 hrs Thailand Time)

From 1 May 2022, travelers entering Thailand by air will be subject to new entry measures, as follows;

🔴 1. Fully Vaccinated Persons must :
- Register on Thailand Pass
- Attach required documents including passport, certificate of vaccination
- Attach proof of insurance with at least 10,000 USD coverage for medical treatments in Thailand (for non-Thais only)
(COVID-19 test, both prior to and after arriving in Thailand, is no longer required)

🔴 2. Unvaccinated Persons
🔸 (Option 1 - Exemption from quarantine) Travelers with a negative RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours before traveling must :
- Register on Thailand Pass
- Attach required documents including passport, and COVID-19 RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours before traveling (must attach on Thailand Pass only)
- Attach proof of insurance with at least 10,000 USD coverage for medical treatments in Thailand (for non-Thais only)
(Any COVID-19 test after arriving in Thailand is not required)

New Policy about Test and Go - From 1st May

Starting on 1 May 2022, Thailand will scrap its Test & Go travel scheme for foreign arrivals by air, while the minimum COVID-19 insurance coverage for them will be reduced from US$20,000 to $10,000.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), chaired by Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha.

According to the decision, fully vaccinated travelers will not be tested for COVID-19 upon their arrival in Thailand anymore. It is recommended that they self-test using antigen kits (ATK) during their stay. If they test positive, they should enter their COVID-19 insurance process or take care of their own treatment. However, they must register for entry via the Thailand Pass system.

As for unvaccinated travelers, they must also register for entry via the Thailand Pass system. They are requested to show their negative RT-PCR test not more than 72 hours before their arrival, or they will be quarantined in accordance with the alternative quarantine (AQ) system, with another RT-PCR test on day 4 or 5. They are also advised to do self-antigen testing during their stay. If they test positive, they should enter their COVID-19 insurance process or take care of their own treatment.

Also starting from 1 May 2022, the CCSA has reclassified a number of provinces under its color-coded scale, designating 65 provinces high-surveillance, or "yellow zones.” The remaining 12 provinces, which will be designated tourism-oriented, or "blue zones,” include Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phetchaburi, Krabi, Nonthaburi, Phuket, Kanchanaburi, Pathum Thani, Rayong, Chon Buri, Phang-nga, and Songkhla.

In both zones, the serving of alcoholic beverages at restaurants will be extended from 11 pm to midnight. However, these venues must receive SHA Plus or Thai Stop COVID 2 Plus certificates, or implement COVID-Free Setting measures.

Night entertainment venues must remain closed, but they are allowed to operate as restaurants, in accordance with the established measures.

New measures for travelers entering Thailand
- From 1 April 2022, travelers entering through all schemes will no longer require a pre-departure RT-PCR test within 72 hours of travel. However, there will be a requirement for travelers to undergo the RT-PCR test upon arrival in Thailand and to take a self-administered ATK on day 5 (reporting that through the mor phrom application).
- In addition, travelers entering Thailand through the Sandbox or Alternative Quarantine schemes will be required to quarantine for the decreased number of only 5 days.

Wat Chalong - Phuket’s largest and most revered temple

Of the many temples on Phuket island, the Wat Chalong temple is the largest and most revered. The temple complex was built in its current location in 1837. Some remains of older structures have been found, however it is unknown exactly how old they are.

History and legends of Wat Chalong
Many tales and legends surround Wat Chalong. One of the stories evolves around the Chinese Coolie Rebellion of 1876.

The Chinese Coolie Rebellion
One of the pillars of Phuket’s wealth in previous centuries was the tin mining industry. Most of the people employed in the mines were Chinese immigrants.

In 1876, the Chinese Coolie Rebellion (or Angyee Rebellion) broke out across Phuket, during which several people got killed. Local Thai people came to the temple for help and advice. Luang Phor Cham, who was at the time the Abbott of Wat Chalong, assisted the people in the fight against the Angyee, although he could not fight himself, being a monk.

After the rebellion had been put down, King Rama V invited Luang Phor Cham to Bangkok, where he received the title of Phra Kru Wisit Wongsacharn. A statue of Luang Phor Cham can be found in the mondop building.
