Candlelight Procession (Wian Tian with Oil Lamps) at the Ancient City of Sukhothai 2026 (For ไทย Below )
On the occasion of Makha Bucha Day
📅 Tuesday, March 3, 2026
⏰ 7:00 – 9:00 PM
📍 Island Ancient Monument, Wat Trapang Thong
200 meter from hotel (Sukhothai Garden)
🌙 Join the candlelight procession illuminated by traditional oil lamps (“Takhan”) amid the ancient ruins at night. Enjoy beautiful Thai classical music and a Khon masked dance performance titled “Rama Avatar.”
Free admission!
The first 500 participants will receive a free traditional oil lamp (“Takhan”).

🇹🇭Loy Krathong and Candle Festival 2025
📍Sukhothai Historical Park, Sukhothai
🗓️ 27 October – 5 November 2025
This year’s Loy Krathong and Candle Festival in Sukhothai will be held with respect and solemnity under the theme of remembrance and loyalty. Traditional activities continue in adjusted formats, including:
• Welcoming the Dawn of Happiness – Morning alms-giving to nine monks at Wat Traphang Thong.
• Ceremony to Pay Homage to the Ancient Kings of Sukhothai at the King Ramkhamhaeng Monument.
• Cultural Parades featuring Krathongs, lanterns, flower trays, and offerings from all 9 districts (on 5 November).
• Candlelight Procession and Royal Krathong Floating Ceremony at Tra Pang Ta Kuan Pond.
• Exhibitions and local markets showcasing Sukhothai heritage and crafts.
• “Khao Kwan Wan Len Fai” traditional festive dinner.
• Light & Sound Show, Khon and cultural performances, Muay Thai Kard Chuek, and Krabi Krabong demonstrations.
• Traditional fireworks show and daily Takan lighting ceremony at 21:21 hrs to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
🕯️ Note: The Miss Noppamas beauty contest is suspended this year.
