What happens to food waste at Koh Tao Cabana?🥯🍅🍤
Instead of being discarded, food waste from our kitchen is processed through a natural larvae-based system.
These larvae act as highly efficient decomposers, consuming organic waste and breaking it down rapidly. Within just a few days, they can reduce the volume of food waste by up to 70–80 percent.
Through this process, food scraps are converted into nutrient-rich compost that can be reused to support plant growth, creating a continuous and regenerative cycle.
This approach helps significantly reduce landfill waste, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and transform everyday waste into a valuable resource.
It is a practical and nature-driven solution, especially important in island environments where responsible waste management matters.
