Our Phangan Story

The first Mad Monkey Hostel was founded in Phnom Penh in 2011 on the values of social responsibility, excellent service, and travel experiences that exceed expectations. Since 2011 we have grown into the largest hostel provider in Cambodia and expanded into the rest of Southeast Asia. We've earned a reputation as the best hostels for meeting people and having genuine experiences in new places, while also making a positive impact on the local community. We are now the #1 accommodation, tours, and events choice for many of the backpackers making their way around the Southeast Asian Circuit.

Mad Monkey Hostels has four properties in Cambodia (Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Kampot and Koh Rong Samloem), two in Thailand (Bangkok and Koh Phangan), four in the Philippines (Boracay, Nacpan Beach, Siargao, and Cebu) and one in Sydney, Australia. Each of our hostels will be your home-away-from-home, where you’ll meet hundreds of other like-minded travelers.
