Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, celebrated on May 19 each year, is the official holiday of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.  May 19, 1919 by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in Samsun and Bandirma Ferry has increased to this day, against the invasion of Allied forces accepted the day of the Turkish War of Independence began.  Atatürk gifted this holiday to Turkish youth.  For many years, "Youth and Sports Day" is celebrated with the name of the feast, Ataturk Year adopted and announced the 1981 period of President amendment made by Universe "Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day" took its name.

April 23 is celebrated in Turkey as National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. On April 23, 1920, during the Turkish War of Independence, the Turkish Grand National Assembly first met in Ankara and laid the foundations of the independent, democratic, and secular Republic. Allied Forces had invaded Turkey in late 1918, but were met with brave resistance and defeated by the Turkish people by 1922. The Turkish Republic was declared on October 28, 1923. Ataturk, the leader of the Independence Wars and founder of the Republic, declared April 23 World Children’s Day which was accepted by UNESCO globally in 1979.
23 Nisan, Türkiye'de Ulusal Egemenlik ve Çocuk Bayramı olarak kutlanıyor. 23 Nisan 1920'de Türk Kurtuluş Savaşı sırasında Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi ilk olarak Ankara'da bir araya gelerek bağımsız, demokratik ve laik Cumhuriyet'in temellerini attı. Müttefik Kuvvetler 1918'in sonlarında Türkiye'yi işgal etti, ancak 1922'de Türkler tarafından cesur bir direnişle karşılandı ve Türkler tarafından yenilgiye uğradı. Türkiye Cumhuriyeti, 28 Ekim 1923'te ilan edildi. Bağımsızlık Savaşları Lideri ve Cumhuriyetin kurucusu olan Atatürk, ilan etti.
