Meet Lollipop — the Heart of Georges Hotel Galata. 🧡🐈
Some stories can’t be designed. They simply happen.
In 2018, our dear friend and former General Manager, , found a tiny ginger kitten wandering the streets of Galata. She brought him to Georges Hotel Galata, where he found something every little soul deserves: a home.
Today, Lollipop is eight years old.
He has become much more than our resident cat. He is the quiet guardian of our lobby, the first welcome for countless guests, the companion of morning coffees and late-night conversations, and, in many ways, the soul of Georges Hotel Galata.
Lollipop is the only cat who lives inside the hotel. While Istanbul’s streets are lovingly shared with thousands of cats, he has his own special place here. Every day, guests from around the world stop to greet him, photograph him, or simply sit beside him. Some even return to Georges just to see him again.
Perhaps nowhere else in the world is the bond between people and cats as unique as it is in Türkiye. Here, cats are not just animals—they are neighbours, companions and a cherished part of the city’s identity. Istanbul belongs to them as much as it belongs to us.
Lollipop reminds us every day that true luxury is not only beautiful design, exceptional service or breathtaking views. Sometimes, it is the comforting presence of a little ginger cat peacefully sleeping in the lobby, making everyone feel at home.
