While staying in Ortaköy eating "kumpir" (baked potato) is a must. it is made with potatoes that are baked in special ovens. The potatoes are cut straight down the middle and the insides are mixed with unsalted butter and puréed with kaşar cheese then filled with various things according to your taste.

“We arrived at about 11am and Emre kindly stored our luggage and gave us a map, refreshments and directions of how to get around. When we arrived back at about 9pm our luggage had been taken to our room and we slept well. The hotel is next door to Ortakoy bars / cafe / restaurants and samll shops. It has a distinct neighbourhood feel and is away from the tourist traps of Sultanahmet. Picturesque area with easy walks back to Taksim / Galata Bridge etc. For those into cars, the Lamborghini / Ferrari / Rolls Royce showrooms are within 10mins walk turn left out of the Hotel and follow the road next to the sea. Breakfast was fresh and tasty and the staff made us nice lavender tea when we came back at night. Emre helped us with a taxi and the Havatas shuttle back to Sahiba Gocken Airport when the Istanbul shuttle company failed to show up. He called them and I spoke to a man who did not really care about letting us down. My advice is 10 Euro per person from SAW is good value but the Havatas Shuttle at 13YTL is much better value. It drops you in Taksim square. Just get a cab at 10-15YTL to / from your hotel - it still works out cheaper !. Havatas is every 30mins and also goes to Attaturk airport. In summary the hotel is clean, good location, nicely decorated rooms and the staff are genuinely helpful. They are new to the hotel business and it is nice to give the small guy your business.”.

“The service was amazing! Guys working at the reception are friendly, knowledgeable and fun. They are willing to accommodate your every whim :). Rooms are a bit small but nice. You should definitely consider splurging for the one with the balcony. Since they bring the breakfast to the room upon request, balcony is the perfect setting for eating and having your turkish coffee first thing in the morning. The hotel is very clean and the location is perfect if you plan to go clubbing to some of the fancy clubs along the Bosphorus shore.” Maja, Zagreb (HR)

“The staff is very friendly and professional. The breakfast is very delicious. Coffee, tea and water is offered anytime and included in the price. The hotel has a perfect location, with great connections to public transport and many restaurants and bars nearby. The area is very safe and perfectly located with a short distance to the main tourist attractions and nearby the evening locations along bebek coast. I will definetly come there again on my next visit in Istanbul.”

Büyük Mecidiye Camii (Grand Imperial Mosque of Sultan Abdülmecid) is the symbol of Ortaköy where our hotel is located. The mosque is located on the shores of the Bosphorus. It was built in 1853 by the royal architect Nikoğos Balyan, during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid, designed in Baroque style and has a fine location. It is composed of intimate rooms and a private area for the sultans. The wide and tall windows were designed to let in light from all around the Bosphorus. It has two minarets each with a single gallery that are be reached by a flight of stairs. The walls are made of white stone. The walls of the mosque's only dome were decorated with pink mosaics. Its recess in the wall of the kiblah was made of marble and decorated with mosaic, and the mihrab (pulpit) where the preacher stands was made with porphyry covered marble.
