Jumba Hostel is a uniquely designed hostel in a uniquely beautiful city - Istanbul. We, the owners, are three sisters with very different backgrounds – Eda, a history teacher, Lahika, a lawyer, and Alev, a journalist. We like our jobs but we love to host people and to help them make the best of their travels. Therefore we decided to do what we do best, - while also having fun. Even though we all
enjoy working within our own professions we have always had a great interest in the hostel world – both by travelling ourselves and by working in hostels in Istanbul. Therefore we finally decided to open our own hostel in order to have the opportunity to share our experiences and to provide a cosy home for visitors to this fantastic city. The name of our hostel, Jumba (in Turkish - Cumba) is an architectural term for the closed balconies of the historical Greek buildings which are typical of our neighbourhood. Our hostel is also a historical Greek building and as you may guess, it also has a Jumba! Our neighbourhood is one of the oldest areas of Istanbul and it is especially famous for its antique shops and cafes which you can find on every street corner. Therefore it is an area very popular with both locals and tourists to walk around on lazy days. Jumba is situated in the centre of Istanbul and within close reach you will find all that the city has to offer. We are less than five minutes away from Istanbul’s most famous street, Istiklal, around which you can find a huge variety of cafes, restaurants, bars, theatres and concert halls. Sultanahmet, the historical city, is a twenty minutes walk away and it will take you less than ten minutes to walk to the central transport hub of Taksim, from where you can get to pretty much anywhere in Istanbul. At Jumba Hostel we provide dormitories – but also double and twin rooms, and all of our rooms have private bathrooms. Our double rooms have french balconies which face onto one of the typically beautiful and historic streets of the area. Jumba Hostel also has a cozy common area and a great rooftop terrace for you to enjoy. So, we are looking forward to welcoming you and we’re sure that you too can share our enthusiasm for our city, for our neighbourhood and for our hostel.
