Volunteer Needed

A group of locals have come together under the name Yeşilmavi Kalkan to try and tackle the rubbish issue.

They have held two litter pick already tackling the footpath to the Lighthouse and started the from Indigo to Yali but this is a bigger job and need volunteers to help.

The next litter pick will be on
Friday 31st May,
Meet at Indigo to start at 19.00

Many of you in Kalkan over the years would have come across this gorgeous couple - Joan and Derek Berwin and we are very sad to say that Joan died in February and Derek last Saturday. We have so many happy memories and laughter with these two- great story tellers of their adventures and life together- we were also delighted to host their 59th wedding anniversary and Derek and Joan were the last leave the floor. Many of our guests would flock around them to listen to their amazing stories often pleading with them to stay and tell more. Our condolences and thoughts are with their lovely family and friends and we were so lucky to have them both in our lives and will miss them both 🥰

Its with a heavy heart we write to say we lost a dear friend, part of the White House family for many years, and a great friend of Kalkan. Bill Trewhitt died at home on Thursday morning with his parter Ian by his side. Bill swooshed into our lives many years ago and became very quickly part of our family here - larger than life, full of mischief and a great big heart - he was like the pied piper - lots of people wanted to be in his company and he was always recommending everyone to the White House. Crowds would arrive on the terrace “is bill here” guests would ask “when are they coming”. He was a big part of the White House history. My dancing partner, mischief maker, full of fun too many great memories and like a big brother to me. Rest in peace darling Bill we will never forget you and our thoughts are with Ian and family and friends - happy days and naughty nights 🥲
