Ephesus
one of the greatest ancient Greek cities in Anatolia, located in Lydia province, an historic area in West Alanadol where the Kester River flows into the Aegean Sea. Visit St. John church, built in the 6th century AD during the reign of Emperor Constantine I. It is said to contain the tomb of the apostle John. Also visit the Library of Celsus, built in 125 BC, which houses over 12,000 manuscripts. The library was constructed with an eastward orientation providing ample light for reading rooms. Finally, experience the Temple of Artemis, which is one of the original Seven Wonders of the World. Now reduced to a single stone column and scattered ruins, as much of what was once there was removed at the hands of the British and placed in the Royal Museum.
